Well, not really

The Abrahamic cultures often see kindness and politeness as weakness or subservience, but that is their problem, not Japan's.

It might actually be of interest to some that Japans culture is actually very much intact due to them shutting themselves off whilst the industrial age was kicking in elsewhere. The whole country went Hikikomori from 1633 to 1853. Basically this means that the Japanese are very much still Japanese, a boast that not many civilised countries can make nowadays.

and btw, I would say that Westerners, the normies especially, are very subservient. There is a very strict idea of what is and is not 'normal' and this is enforced by the carrot and stick of praise and ridicule. The Westerners are their own jailers. Its very sad. and they are all waiting to be saved, is waiting for Messiah / Jesus / Sant Claus any better than waiting for a giant robotic Mahou Shoujo?
