I think this is actually a 10-bit video. the preview icon isn't appearing and windows isn't telling me what the data rate is and it doesn't play on the xbox.

The xbox VLC player can play it while the movies & TV app can't. I'm guessing it's an encoding problem since that app can usually play 8-bit videos with no problem.

No, the bit length is 8-bit, but the video stream is encoded in HEVC with x265. Not all devices can decode that normally.

well it looks like the video needs to be re-encoded BACK to the known world standard 8bit AVC. And change the fps from 23.976 to 60fps, although usually 30fps is enough to make the video look no different 10bit.

Guess you've been living under a rock. The standard of 4K Blu-rays is HEVC 10-bit.

And frame-rate has nothing to do with color-depth. Changing frame-rate is not going to affect color-depth. Talking out of your ass as usual.

Re-encoding back the known world standard 8bit AVC. from 8bit HEVC is correct. Try reading every word b4 replying. And increasing the frame rate to get a picture thats just a good as 10bit, is also correct. And the choices don't stop there. Devolving the file to a single way of being played does nothing for the sharing community. The one good thing about it. We can be sure 10bit will keep anyone interested in Anime from watching it when they want to. Eventually Anime encoding will go back to being no different than any other media type For now, Youtube thanks all the 10bit uploaders.

You honestly don't know shit about encoding. 10bit has nothing to do with frame-rate. HEVC is a known world standard.
If you don't like that some encoders are making HEVC 10bit releases get off your lazy spood-fed arse and encode your own.
Also re-encoding someone's encode is only something that people who don't care about quality would do.

Beatrice's 2nd screenshot at 30m 7s is better... her hair is more smooth and has more quality.
HEVC is inferior and it uses too much cpu.
x264 is superior and an established world standard... bigger size but storage is easy to get.

Heh, you are so funny. Comparing a file that is 3x larger and 3x the bit-rate. Of course it's going to look better.
HEVC is an "established world standard" also and you implying otherwise won't change the fact.
You will also find that most people who come here are after smaller files and usually delete them after watching.

H.265/HEVC is the future of widely used video compression standard, H.264/AVC (i.e in the near future, the majority of videos (from streaming sites to BDs etc.) will be in HEVC).
It's the extension and successor of AVC and is developed by the same team of experts.
