My Vlc player don't support the Audio, is there a Patch or something to fix this.
13/05/2017 14:50 — Anonymous
Actually this is what the Error I got said.  "VLC does not support the audio or video format "undf". Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this."
13/05/2017 15:10 — Anonymous
Check the file's media info < https://animetosho.org/file/quan-zhi-g...mkv.403878 >.
It uses the "Opus" audio codec. Other players support it.
A potential alternative to VLC is one of the K-Lite codec packs. It's frequently updated, comprehensive and (at least for me) bug-free.

Awesome that player did the trick thanks :)
13/05/2017 16:42 — Anonymous: "MeH"
That's it. K-Lite Mega Codec Pack (specially the Mega one as there are 4 different editions) is the ultimate media player. There's no media file on earth that it can't play.
Just don't be a noob and install it carefully to avoid its offers to install third-party software.

K-Lite Mega Codec Pack is amazing and AnimeTosho rocks ;)
13/05/2017 16:21 — Anonymous
quick question, can I go from the full version to mega with update or have to uninstall full then install mega version?
13/05/2017 16:51 — Anonymous: "MeH"
You can't since different editions of KLCP have different components and the missing components won't be added via update file. You should uninstall KLCP Full and after rebooting the system, should install KLCP Mega.

K-Lite Mega Codec Pack (specially the Mega one as there are 4 different editions) is the most powerful media player on earth  ^_^
13/05/2017 16:46 — Anonymous
An update package won't install missing components (additional codecs, filters, encoders, etc.) of an expanded version in a simpler one. It will just update specific core items (e.g., LAV filter, MPHC, etc.) common to all the variants.
K-Lite's comprehensive uninstaller that will wipe everything (including registry fragments) if you want to do a clean install, but I think you can just install the Mega version over your existing version. K-Lite is excellent about managing things cleanly.
13/05/2017 16:58 — Anonymous
The only difference between the "Full" and "Mega" versions  is the inclusion of video and audio encoders.
If playback is your only concern, the Full version give you everything.
13/05/2017 18:17 — Anonymous
K-lite is cancer. Use CCCP or just MPC-HC/MPV
13/05/2017 19:38 — Anonymous
CCCP hasn't been active since 2015.
Gee... ancient filters, splitters, renderers and codecs... versus a pack with modern components under continuous/active open source community development, updated almost weekly (and early beta versions for testing).
More importantly, CCCP doesn't support the audio codec needed by the op in the initial question (Opus).
13/05/2017 20:32 — Anonymous
CCCP is updated bi-yearly now. Wiki isn't the source of updated info.

CCCP has LAV filters > LAV supports Opus.
14/05/2017 18:14 — Anonymous
To your comment that the Opus codec is supported...
From CCCP's FAQ: "...remember that CCCP's goal isn't to decode everything. Instead it aims to support all sensible releases."
It isn't listed in *their* Wiki < http://www.cccp-project.net/wiki/index...?title=FAQ >
...but who knows. Their documentation warns that information may be outdated.

To your comment that KLCP is "cancer" ... Here is *all* that's included in the Standard package:
Contents of version 13.1.6:
Player: Media Player Classic Homecinema [version 1.7.11.13]
DirectShow video decoding filters: LAV Video [version 0.69-71-gaf4c1]
DirectShow audio decoding filters: LAV Audio [version 0.69-71-gaf4c1]
DirectShow source filters: LAV Splitter [version 0.69-71-gaf4c1]
DirectShow subtitle filter: DirectVobSub [VSFilter version 1.7.11.13]
Other filters: madVR [version 0.91.8]
Tools: Codec Tweak Tool [version 6.1.8], MediaInfo Lite [version 0.7.95]
Shell extensions: Icaros ThumbnailProvider [version 3.0.2 b2], Icaros PropertyHandler [version 3.0.2 b2]

Is there something you find objectionable?

CCCP's LAV version is approaching two years old (maybe 0.66 if they included it in their 10/18/15 update)?

There's been a lot of progress since then. See: < https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases >
KLCP's 5/12/17 update (v13.1.7) included LAV version 0.69-73-g87035 (and also updated MPC-HC to version 1.7.11.24).
Anyone that tweaks madVR  < https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/MadV...pert_Guide > gets the latest, too.
Check the change log:  < http://www.codecguide.com/changelogs_mega.htm >

I get the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" concept, but these additions may be important to some people.
CCCP appears to be very neglected.  < http://www.cccp-project.net/wiki/index...entChanges >
Their documentation warns that information may be outdated. Not very helpful for someone with problems.

KLCP has an active forum for support and development.

KLCP works well out of the box for noobs and has handles for everything for the experts trying to squeeze blood from a rock.

I've been using it for years, problem free.  But to each their own
14/05/2017 21:49 — Anonymous
It isn't listed in *their* Wiki http://www.cccp-project.net/wiki/index...?title=FAQ

> last wiki update was in 2013, last CCCP release was in 2015. You can also manually install the binaries to CCCP folder to update the lav filters. But remember, even stable versions can have bugs. Better safe than sorry.

With MadVR+MPV/MPC-HC, there's no need for codec packs anyway. I have yet to encounter any issues myself.
14/05/2017 22:09 — Anonymous
Exactly my point. No documentation activity for ~4 years and a two-year-old package.
If you want to track git.hub, LAV, FFmpeg, madshi, etc, to roll your own, that's great (and you know how) -- but KLCP does that for you.

CCCP was the go-to codec pack back when Dattebayo was encoding standard definition Naruto for Win XP boxes... but the world has moved on.
21/05/2017 00:28 — Anonymous: "Anonymous Common Sense"
I've got something meaningful hanging, but seriously after spending hours and more hours testing half a dozen different media players. The results were what I expected. But I did the testing anyway because without it, words are meaningless. For starters way too many people have gotten hung up on VLC.

Other than the fact it's a crappy player, it's only purpose is playback of the most basic media without a bunch of enhancements or exotic codecs. If you want something that can be tweaked to your personal tastes. VLC is not the player for you. But if your common sense is gone due to a lack of use. Then VLC is perfect for you. When using common sense, it's easy to see that it's crap compared to MPC (Standard-Mega Pack). KMPlayer or it's original the PotPlayer. The difference between PP and KMP is with PP you dont get the TV add-on that likes load every time KMP is started. It can be a resource hog. But there is something you get with KMP & PP the others can't compete with. Skins Skins and more Skins. Going with skins KMP is the better choice. I've found over 100 the first search on it's forum page. You can setup KMP anyway you like even make it look like VLC, MPC etc.. It really is a incredible player. Skins offer unlimited choices to the insane amount of options and tweaks that come with KMP.

BUT there is something that comes with K-Lite that makes it even better than being constantly updated. It's player, yes we can get the player on it's own big deal. K-Lite makes it all come together heres why.   MPC(MediaPlayerClassic) has a few skins variations of its own but thats not its best feature. It's best feature is one that can be turned on in options.  MPC takes 8bit encodes and outputs it at 10 in (Component Video format).  Let me say that again 8bit is output at 10bit.  MPC has had this feature for a long time.  MPC will even force 8bit to input at 10 as well as output if you want it to.
Here I've even made a little diagram to help anyone who wants it: []i.imgur.com/fPSVLWb.jpg[]

You have some interest in this topic, so I'll add a few thoughts:

1. VLC: There's no point in calling any player "crappy".  It just means it doesn't do the things you want.  Some people, especially here, want a simple player, and why not.  It gets the job done.

2. The 8-bit/10-bit thing you mention is meaningless.  A 10-bit 'conversion' is useful in encoding to form averaging values, but the human eye can't actually see the 10-bit palette of one billion colors.  It can't even see the 8-bit palette of 16.7 million colors.  That's what makes 8-bit "photo-realistic", indistinguishable from infinite analogue.  Do you really think you can reliably distinguish between 256 shades of red?

3. KMP: Started to bundle itself with it's Pandora TV.  Be sure you want that, and what it entails.  Beware of adware too.

4. Potplayer: The EULA went weird a while back, requiring you to agree to stream content to others through your connection, like a torrent.  Beware, if that hasn't been removed yet.

5. K-Lite: Glad you like it, some don't.  I forget why.

I'd recommend to most users to have at least two players on their system to cover most possibilities, probably something MPC-HC based and VLC as it is simple to infrequently use, very different as software from MPC-HC, and handles broken files well, something that MPC-HC does not.

...just pointing out that the referenced cccp posts are ancient (last updated 2013, 2010, 2008)... like everything else on their site. Whatever issues they may have had with K-Lite back then are long since past.

For those who may want to stick with VLC, consider trying the nightly builds -- but check the roadmap for active problems that could affect you.
http://nightlies.videolan.org/
https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/roadmap

According to the release notes, version 3.0 now supports Opus, which was the original problem that spawned this thread.

21/05/2017 02:36 — admin
MPC takes 8bit encodes and outputs it at 10
Which is completely pointless, not only because monitors which support more than 8-bit colour is very rare, but also because the upscaling doesn't provide any quality benefits.
21/05/2017 02:39 — Anonymous
Do you work for K-lite?
21/05/2017 12:23 — Anonymous
No... but K-Lite works for me.

14/05/2017 22:40 — Anonymous
This is a sterile discussion.  Everything except VLC supports Opus, hevc-12 bit, MA-Audio, etc.

The releases are stable and work.  Ho-hum for updates that don't solve any problems or improve performance.  If you think they do, then cite those problems and meaningful improvements.

Here's a meaningful example: I used to use Potplayer because it had flexibility about audio output that I hadn't found in other players.
14/05/2017 23:03 — Anonymous
Did you look at the LAV dev page? < https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters/releases >
May not be important to you, but some of these items matter to others.
To your "everything" comment: It's still open to question whether or not CCCP actually supports Opus. Suppose I could build a VM and install this relic to check, but why bother?
As an alternative, why don't you try KLCP? You might be in for a pleasant surprise.

You correctly pointed out that Wiki isn't the final authority on things but it's a good starting place: < https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparis...ia_players >

Done now, over-and-out.
15/05/2017 04:50 — Anonymous
I use CCCP.  It plays everything.  I have no complaints.  Why should I look for anything else?
15/05/2017 06:06 — Anonymous
If it works for your needs and you're happy, good for you.
But, no, CCCP doesn't play everything. They explicitly say it doesn't.
This thread began because someone asked for VLC playback help.
You called the suggested alternative a "cancer" (see bullet #4, below, concerning comments) and then recommended an all but adandoned player that doesn't list the codec as as supported.

I can mail you my old Windows 95 floppies. They're probably an upgrade for you.
I think others know where to look.

15/05/2017 06:35 — Anonymous
I didn't make any of the comments you ascribed to me.

I use CCCP.  No anime has come to AT that it didn't play, so far.  I don't know why you have a problem with that.

Here's something you apparently aren't aware of: You should always used the playback software that the torrent author suggests, if they suggest any, in order to get the exact playback of video and subs that they intended.  It's standard fansub wisdom.  Often that's still CCCP.  It's why CCCP was developed.
15/05/2017 15:35 — Anonymous
>But, no, CCCP doesn't play everything. They explicitly say it doesn't.

Basing that on what, exactly? That outdated wiki link posted earlier? Har har har
22/05/2017 14:18 — Anonymous: "MeH"
There are some good media players out there and CCCP can play many but not everything. CCCP is good but it definitely isn't the most powerful player out there.

KMPlayer's latest version's (4.2.1.2) digital signature is not valid (even when downloaded from official site) and it has ad problems too.
KMP's most unique and best feature is that it shows screenshots when mouse is pointed to seek bar. (I hope they add this feature to MPC-HC someday)

VLC is a well known player and many call it The Swiss Army Knife of Media Players as it can do many things besides playing audio and video files from converting media files, steaming media over LAN or WAN, playing Internet radio to recording desktop and cutting (recording) selected parts of a video. VLC does support Opus since v2.0.4 (see here) and I don't know why in the first place, OP said that his VLC can't play the audio!!!
Its best feature, IMO, is its ability to cut (record) selected parts of a video.

Good advice is that one should have at least 2 players on their system (e.g. VLC and KLCP).

KLCP isn't that feature-rich like VLC but it does the thing it's supposed to do (playing media files) perfectly and that's why
K-Lite Mega Codec Pack (specially the Mega one as there are 4 different editions) is the most powerful media player on earth  ^_^
22/05/2017 22:42 — Anonymous
I suspect the reason Opus didn't work is because VLC didn't add support for its demux in MPEG TS until version 3.0. (beta)

Per the Release Notes (located in C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\NEWS.txt)

Changes between 2.2.x and 3.0.0-git:
Demuxers:
* Support Opus in MPEG Transport Stream

Assume VLC previously only supported stand-alone Opus audio decode.
23/05/2017 14:16 — Anonymous: "MeH"
VLC does support OggOpus (audio track alone) and Opus/MKV (as stated here) and to be sure I downloaded some files (e.g here, here and here) and again I emphasize that VLC supports Opus playback. (And my VLC (2.2.4) isn't even the latest version (2.2.5.1))

I've encountered such problems before when people complain about a security suite or other programs that they are crap because they can't install them and ... while those software have no problem instead users are the problem (--_--)

To make sure you have a smoothly functioning system, install/uninstall software properly and keep them up to date (among many other tips and tricks) ^_^
23/05/2017 15:11 — Anonymous
or use Portable version

I hope they add this feature to MPC-HC someday

and QtAV
23/05/2017 13:47 — Anonymous: "MeH"
Good to hear that.
And another great thing about K-Lite Codec Pack is that one can choose the player to use installed codecs by KLCP.
So, one can use KLCP Mega with MPC-BE.
23/05/2017 15:03 — Anonymous
Not sure the KLCP pack supports this. According to the folks at KLCP, MPC-BE "uses completely different internal codecs compared to MPC-HC."
Here's the thread: http://codecs.forumotion.net/t2441-ins...han-mpc-hc
23/05/2017 15:27 — Anonymous: "MeH"
That's right but it's not the case here.
It's mentioned in that thread that adding MPC-BE to KLCP instead of MPC-HC just adds to size of the pack with duplicated codecs and filters used in both of them.

What I meant is that during installation process of KLCP one can choose the player(s) they want to associate with different formats. One can even select KMPlayer, PotPlayer, GOM Player and many others DirectShow players as the preferred player just if they are already installed on the system (before installing KLCP). See here.
23/05/2017 00:32 — Anonymous
K-Lite Mega Codec Pack is not most powerful media player on earth or universe dude.

mpv player is also very powerful on windows and I ditched K-Lite Mega Codec Pack a long ago to use mpv

There's no end in media player war. Use whatever works for you
23/05/2017 00:56 — Anonymous: "Rubin"
`K-Lite Mega Codecs are not a player, they package Media Player Classic in the bundle so MPC is the actual player......
