So many subbers are regarding all three seasons as a single, contiguous series. It's not episode 37, it's episode 1, season 3.

Netflix also does that stupid part 1,2,3... shit to make it look like a show is longer than it really is. There was a gap between airings, a new graphic was issued to represent this set of episodes, and databases are listing it as a separate entry. Regardless of the exact word you use, officially or otherwise, it's a new "season" of episodes.

"Dai 2 Bu" is part of this show's title. Just like "Episode" is part of the title of most Star Wars movies yet they're still individual movies rather than episodes of a series.

It was necessary because this is the second set of episodes in the series released in the same year, just adding the year to the title wasn't enough to differentiate them (and the showrunners do what them to be differentiated). The issue that started this whole exchange was that sub groups were still using the title of the 2018 show, not even bothering to add the year to their torrent titles let alone a part number or whatever, causing AnimeTosho's automated system to just throw everything into the same bucket.

You don't have to agree with my decision to regard intentionally-separated sets of episodes as individual seasons if you don't want to.

Yeah but it's not though.
Pause the video at 02:31, and you'll see that it's not called "Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken (2021 Dai 2 Bu)"; pause Empire at 00:41 and you'll see it IS called "Star Wars Episode V".

"2021 Dai 2 Bu" is just AniDB being weird. Remember, AniDB is the same "authoritative source" that says it knows better than Imaishi and Inferno Cop is not anime.

Woof, that's really bad. AniDB says is doesn't regard "motion comics" as an Anime, and in this case I have to agree with them (if for no other reason than on artistic grounds). All those people who complain about the varying quality level of shows Trigger attaches their name to have clearly never seen Inferno Cop.

The text directly above the English words "ON AIR" translate to "Phase 2, Part 1" and "Phase 2, Part 2". That is how the creators of the show are officially regarding what westerners would regard as seasons of a running series. AniDB appends that Kanji to the title of each entry in the series on their site as the official Japanese title. AniDB's title is accurate.

...yeah, that's what I said. Find me someone who argues that Empire Strikes Back 'isn't a movie, per say' because of that.
