  What bothers me more than anything is the name of the {Speedo Fansubs}  It was a group called [SpeedSubs] way back in 2007 right when machine translators appeared on the internet. Up till then All Anime had always been fan subbed. There was average to a really amazing groups that tirelessly translated every single episode to all the shows. The average time to translate, encode, QC and release episodes was asap. But the most popular shows was 60m+/-5min.  SpeedSubs appeared and began releasing translations 20min after episodes were uploaded onto the net. Nobody believed it at first, but they were accurate quality translations.
   Fans started downloading their subs then when the big groups released dL'd their subs and watched episodes again. It didn't take long before they stopped getting subs from groups that had been around for along time. because SpeedSubs translations were just as accurate.  Only so many applied common sense and asked the obvious question. "How can they release in 20min. It takes a lot of ppl to translate, put the subs together, get timing correct, encode and release in 60 minutes.  The answer was so obvious, but nobody said it. They were getting episodes before they aired on TV in Japan.  Speed Subs was actually funimation/CR.  Their intent was to cause all big sub groups to lose interest in translating and disband.  What most don't know is, big sub groups controlled the flow of new Anime in the sharing community. That control was stolen by funi/cr. Losing control was bad for fans.  From the first day of internet sharing the Anime community relied solely on each other, free of outside influence. No more independence or fabsub groups made It was easy to get fans reliant on commercial subs.

Everything good about funimation was lost when Universal pictures purchased it in 2005 then forced the other exporters to go bankrupt. It's more probable UniPic purchased then dumped the companies putting the blame on Anime fans and internet sharing. If sharing was actually responsible Universeal never would have purchased funimation. CR was a subsidiary of another company UniPic owned. Now there one in the same owned by Sony America.
    
SpeedSubs was responsible for destroying the communities independence. Sub groups slowly faded out as streaming new shows increased despite the fact  machine translations have always been garbage.  It was just the beginning of funi/cr taking advantage of having control. Fast forward to Today, were seeing the end results of what funi/cr (corporate america) had planned all along.  Shows have morphed into easy to sell media on the global market.  Exporting, making massive profits are things Japans Anime industry never cared about. The country and it's people have been evolving for well over 4000 years longer than the US and it's citizens. There interested in enriching the lives of everyone living in Japan. And Anime did that and so much more before it was changed. Today were getting cartoons created in Anime studios.
