None of these download links seems to work anymore

DDL links last a few weeks, these are several months old.

AT doesn't renew DDL links.  Your options now are torrent or Usenet.

bet you can't even play these files
23/02/2025 01:57 — Anonymous
Why would you want this, anyways? Dead-in-the-water video codec with very little support, extremely bitstarved video that nukes all the grain and fine detail, and hardsubbed.

This release is for encoders/videophiles who watch this, pause on every 3rd frame, zoom in 300%, and say to themselves, "Hmm, yeah. That looks pretty good for its size."

these don't look good btw

AVC (H.264) --> HEVC (H.265) / AV1 --> VVC (H.266)
4-5 years from now, VVC becomes what HEVC is right now in terms of availability and popularity.
By 2030, AVC has become outdated, more than 600 million people have lost their jobs to AI, more than one hundred humans have settled on mars, and BTC price has gone up to $500000.

Nice meme.

Sorry but fictional movies are far from reality.

For the record settling on Mars would be impossible without a dome. Getting a massive biodome to Mars let alone space would be a currently improbable immense challenge for us. Unlike construct-able buildings that can be packed away and shipped in multiple trips a dome would need to be constructed on earth. Mars has almost no atmosphere protecting the planet Without a radiation proof protective dome the radiation levels would be like trying to live right next to the Chernobyl reactor right after it blew up. Mars is constantly bathed in solar radiation. The Magnetosphere protects earth from solar radiation.

Scientists have speculated that Mars has deep underground lava caves that humans could live in to protect the radiation but they aren't proven to exist.

Surviving on Mars isn't likely happening any time within any of our lifetimes. Even a short visit would be a massive challenge.

Mars is a cold, dry planet with huge sandstorms, no air and a lot of radiation. However, while ongoing radiation levels on Mars are much higher than on Earth and are pretty hazardous, they're only 2.5 times higher than what astronauts experience on the International Space Station per day.

Colonizing Mars and living there safely is something, and sending first human explorers there is something else. It will take hundreds of years to create an earth-like atmosphere for Mars (e.g. by intentionally producing greenhouse gases) and living there freely. However, first human exploration missions will happen before 2035.

Space station is a terrible comparison. Radiation on Mars is 40 to 50 times higher than on Earth ((where we live) and thats not even counting zero protection from any solar flares with much higher radiation. A small as hell space station for like 6 or so for usually around 6 months at most where they can come home any time via a ship isnt the same as living millions of miles away where they dont have access to anything from home. Also when they space walk they are weightless wearing massive suits and part of that is because of radiation. Wearing a massive 280lb suit on a planet with gravity is a different story. Not to mention many that have lived on the space station end up with permanent medical problems. I just cant see living on Mars ..... essentially a nuclear reactor as feasible.
Yes Im aware of the greenhouse theory of building massive factories the size of small cities all over the planet pumping pollution into the air to create an atmosphere.  In reality thats is hundreds of years away at minimum. Again youd need domed cities with thousands under each dome all over the planet living permanently to even build the factories. Even when all of them were built it would still take like 100 years to create the atmosphere. Probably 500 to 1000 years minimum away for that greehouse suggestion to be implemented. Theyed need to kine it for materials there on Mars.  On top of that even with an atmosphere theyed need to then constantly pump oxygen into the atmosphere to I highly doubt we will visit Mars by 2035. We havent even been back to the moon. We were supposed to have gone to both already. Using common sense I just dont see it. If we visit Mars before I die if I make close to another 50 years I will be highly surprised. Sure Id like to see it though Im a techy scifi lover etc. Just trying to be logical.
Living on Mars will be under a dome or deep underground period. The lack of air isnt an issue since its not a vacuum. If thats all it was theyed just need masks and heavy coats. No getting around radiation.

To add to all that you arent even considering the trip which is kind of impossible at this point. Its 7 months minimum to Mars and could be almost 3 years round trip. We cant even handle 6 months in space without serious medical problems. They'd all be dead before they got back. Before its even a possibility we need to build a space ship thats capable of creating Earth type gravity.

You are making up a story, While the AVC codec is still updated in August 2024. https://www.itu.int/ITU-T/recommendati...35&lang=en

Av1 was stopped in 2021 but seems to have updated its latest software (Optimized Av1 Encoder) https://aomedia.org/blog posts/aomedia...1-ver_2_0/
24/02/2025 20:14 — Anonymous
there are other encoders for AV1

Try googling a bit harder next time.

Do you think you have given the correct information? You should learn to use Google. aomedia.org is the official website.
25/02/2025 11:25 — Anonymous
You claimed that AV1 development stopped in 2021, but there are several other AV1 encoders that are actively being developed, getting new features and pushing the codec further. The link I sent is one of them. You aren't very bright, are you?
25/02/2025 20:20 — NekoTrix
AV1 all the way!
You are confusing updates of the formats standard (H.264, AV1) with updates of formats implementations (encoders like x264, SVT-AV1).
BTW SVT-AV1 is at version 3.0.0 now, not 2.0.0. https://gitlab.com/AOMediaCodec/SVT-AV...ses/v3.0.0
25/02/2025 07:41 — Anonymous
for some reason the minority deifies the av1 too much.  this video format is not at all stable on all devices.
25/02/2025 20:16 — Anonymous
If it wasn't obvious enough, this is a meme release. Not meant to be watched
25/02/2025 20:24 — NekoTrix
AV1 all the way!
The minority being the major tech companies like Google, Microsoft, Samsung, Apple, Nvidia, Netflix...? Not stable even though it's supported by most hardware vendors by now and the format is enabled by default in most browsers and in Android 15? If it's not stable for you, you are using more than decode old low-end hardware or not using the latest optimized software.
25/02/2025 20:56 — Anonymous
And we're supposed to just believe that Google, Microsoft, Samsung, Apple, Nvidia, Netflix have a say in what video codecs they'll support on their hardware/services?
25/02/2025 22:11 — Anonymous
Yeah we're supposed to believe them, I don't think we have much leeway when going against those companies...
26/02/2025 06:31 — Anonymous
Do you live under a fucking rock or something? These are the biggest tech companies in the world. They have IMMENSE influential power. Whatever technologies they choose to support, the rest of the tech industry will follow.
25/02/2025 22:56 — Anonymous
If AV1 is the best, then surely many people will use it. People still continue to use mpeg products whether h266 h267 h268 and so on.
26/02/2025 00:00 — Anonymous
AV1 is only good for really small minis. AV1 was designed for low bandwidth streaming without having to pay royalties (as if pirates care}. If you are not a mini fan there is no point to change over.
