In what way is the video broken? If it's extremely choppy, chances are your media player doesn't have proper AV1 support and you need to upgrade.

Even a 10 year-old PC can handle AV1 just fine as long as it's running a new enough media player (e.g. using libgav1 or dav1d instead of libaom).

If your device can't handle AV1, you should probably upgrade because that means your device is shit.

Sometimes a fansub group creates an overengineered karaoke fx track that plays way worse than any video codec.
And then every other releaser mindlessly includes it as the only English track in their batch, throwing away official translation from CR, B-global or whatever.
Because blurry mess karaoke in 1fps is the best possible watching experience for eveyone, obviously.
I get other subs from AT or extract any other release at hand in such cases.
At the same time, my 11 year old PC plays almost any 1080p AV1 video without a hitch.
