I just want to know, why you just encrypted file name where it's hosted in peejeshare ?
Can you encrypt it when you host it in some other file host ?
15/01/2013 09:17 — A_Registered_Trademark
I don't believe the files are encrypted.  The file names are randomized and the file has to be extracted from the 7-zip container.  If it were encrypted, you would need a password.

The file names are randomized because Peeje was deleting a lot of them as they arrived for a while, as have other services.  With random file names, people who want to know what's on a server have to take extra steps to download and find out, rather than a simple directory listing.  Therefore it's harder to identify links to be deleted.

This is a bother for us, but less of a bother than dead links.

Maybe I just don't get the correct words in that post :D
I mean "scrambling" (like admin says) and not "encrypted"..
Sorry for this ambiguous :)

I could enable the scrambling for other hosts, it just depends on whether there's actually any benefit in doing so...

how about using names like "my summer 2012 vacation" or "practice complex sewing part 5". :D use human laziness and stupidity, cripple there logic. plz del this after rea ding.

I don't think the exact names really matter. Do you have any evidence that it does?

can help a little bit. is logic enough? hid a bunch of files just by rename the folders to something that logically matches what was around it. if somebody is just looking at the files and the names look like passwords then they stick out and are easier to notice.

I think you have a misconception here. I highly doubt that anyone is viewing all the files being uploaded, rather they have a program that will flag any suspicious file. if a file was flagged then I imagine that an employee would then investigate the cause.
Or possibly they would do nothing until the specific file has been reported or has an DMCA take-down request.
In rare situations (such as rapidshare last year) they would remove files within hours by monitoring the number of downloads per file and if an file matched an known illegal file, that would get removed too (by comparing the binaries of the two, so renaming and the like didn't effect the outcome).
In terms of complexity "looking" at file names to flag illegal content is easier (and faster) then comparing the binaries of an registered illegal file and an suspicious file.

However each site functions differently, so it is hard to tell how the removal process works, renaming / archiving files might work on few, but it wont on all.

That is how I believe removal process work on file sharing hosts.

I think if someone's looking at your files in the first place, there isn't too much that you can hide (save for going into encryption or stenographic measures, though I doubt the latter could be done well).
Simply viewing the video gives away what it is.
The idea is to not make them look at the file in the first place.

Three last thoughts:
1. Any new ideas have to be things that can be used without human intervention.  For example, computers can make up pseudo-random number titles.  Pseudo-random "My Summer Vacation" variations and other life themes, not so much.
2. There is usually an easier way for users to do something if they want to, but it requires some effort to learn.  Like using a download manager that will automatically unzip downloaded files for you.
3. The most hopeful thing that has happened recently is the robust return of PeejeShare and to some extent Sendspace.  These are the first services to return close to normal after coming under heavy scrutiny by DMCA, unlike a bunch of past favorites which disappeared or had to alter themselves out of existence.  I don't know how or why they were able to do this.  Perhaps they are physically located in some of a very few places where they feel they can ignore legal threats from the US.  Previously, when a service came under fire it was toast and we just had to move on and find new services.

Peejeshare was never good or popular ,neither was sendpace. If you read the Admins comments on here then you will know peeje is unreliable and a lot of the uploads fail or are deleted quickly ,and the site is not very good. Also premium sites like ,up.to,nl,rg,etc are all fine and work great if you are not a  leecher who expects free file hosting like you.
18/01/2013 10:06 — Anonymous
Your note is a sad pile of ignorance and foolishness:

1. "PeejeShare was never good or popular"  PeejeShare remain the most requested links of any download service.  Just read through the comments section.
2. "Peeje ...are deleted quickly": The point of my note was how things have changed back to like it was before they were under scrutiny.  Try to keep up with current events.
3."premium sites...are all fine and work great if you are not a leecher who expects free file hosting like you": I can excuse your lack of historical understanding I guess.  Making anime available to anyone interested without charge is THE core belief of fan-subbing.  We all work from that baseline.  If you don't believe in that, you shouldn't be here.  And anyone who pays for premium memberships is an absolute idiot, of course.

Another clueless leecher who never likes being wrong or contradicted . 1] This is just about the only site that uses peejeshare and hardly nowhere else bothers with it,even if it is requested on here. 2] I am up with current events perfectly well and the hosts i mentioned are being used by most uploaders on popular sites, while peejeshare is not.Try using a few  popular download sites before talking rubbish.3]We where discussing file hosting ,not fan-subs ,use the torrents that groups post on nyaa if you have no idea about file hosting. Also the arrogant anyone paying for a filehost is an idiot comment is nonsense,if everyone was a  leecher like you and didn't pay for premium subscriptions the filehosts would shut and you would have no downloads at all.You should not be commenting if you are so clueless about file sharing .
