Great set! I like how the openings and endings are edited out and just provided as OP & ED videos in the set. But how are these 20-minute episodes just ~70 MB with less than a total GB for a whole season?

This is what would be called "mini-mkv" where the compression of the encode/re-encode is set close to an extreme value (crf 24, in this case).  It's up to you to decide whether the resulting visual (and on separate settings, audio) quality is acceptable for your viewing.

Since this set include an OP and EN, instead of NCOP and NCED, it may be based on a Coalgirls encode which could mean ordered chapters playback and an even more extreme compression than crf 24, being instead a data reduction of a data reduction.

If you like it, great.

Thanks! Looks like I was mistaken. The openings and endings are included in the episodes. In another Project GXS release of Elfen Lied, they edited out these and it worked out well for me.

Using "Ordered Chapters", the intro and ending are separate files and not in the episodes themselves.  They are inserted into the playback by your video software at the proper times by VLC or MPC-HC and others.  The OP and EN files just have to be in the same folder as the episodes for it to work.

It was invented as a way of saving download and storage space.

As for the Elfen Lied example, try playback again after you have made a folder just for that series.  VLC's use of ordered chapters doesn't work if the folder is full of other shows.  That one looks like Coalgirls as well possibly.

You're right! I never saved the OP & ED of Elfen Lied in the folder and the episodes just ran without them. I put them in the folder and it was just as you said. I watched an episode of Yuru Yuri before the others finished downloading and the episode did not have openings or endings, but when these were downloaded and saved in the folder, the episodes had them. Pretty good idea in saving space.
