FILES ENDING WITH .SCR = VIRUS, STAY OUT.

Where's the report button for this fake?
06/08/2022 01:43 — Anonymous
admin wants AT to be just a mirror he says.  So you have to report it to AniDex and get them to remove it there.  Then the AT automation will remove it here, eventually, probably, maybe.

apparently, the AT automated system is working as intended, so scr is here.

-A perfect mirror.

It would also help if people were aware of what they are downloading.
It says .scr right in the file name.

I have mixed feelings about how stupid people are.

Is some worthy goal achieved by propagating scr files?  I can't think of any.

admin pays the bills and keeps things running.  Stupid people don't.  End of story.

I can't think of much either, but you'd have to take that up with Anidex if you're looking for change.

will it still be someone else's problem after the next 50, 100, 500 fake torrents here.  we'll have to wait and see.

Sadly, one of the downsides of running a mirror is that you have to deal with whatever's given to you.
We do step in and remove these reasonably quickly though, so I'd say we're being proactive here and less "it's someone else's problem",

Fraud is an exception to every system, including what it means to be a mirror.  False listings break your system and make it meaningless.

As for what Anidex should do, in fact you are not a mirror of Anidex.  Your narrowing to one section of their content means you can also narrow the valid file types in ways they can't.  If you choose to accept file types which are clearly fraudulent for the category you mirror, that's your choice.  For all I know, scr files have the possibility of being valid in some other part of Anidex.

And let's not think about what your account is doing to Usenet.

Thanks for your input.
Unfortunately Anidex doesn't have a "fraud" section/category that can be filtered by. If they did, I'd see little reason to include it.

Yes, theoretically filtering rules could be devised and implemented here, but that would be taking a more subjective stance toward content than a neutral mirror should behave (in my opinion).
Also worth mentioning that Anidex is also perfectly capable of imposing rules, and realistically they're more suited to doing so than AT is. For one, restrictions imposed there affect their listings as well as ours, for another, they have more details on the uploader that we don't have access to, and hence can make a better judgement call.

In essence, it makes the most sense for Anidex to do such automated filtering, which would negate the need for it to be done here.

To be clear, I do get where you're coming from and appreciate your input. I also don't necessarily disagree with you - I just don't feel that "the easy solution" is the most appropriate one at this stage, and hope that Anidex will be encouraged to deal with this issue better.

Just throw away anidex, just use tokyotosho and nyaa.
