What is with everyone and using these limited playback codecs! It's as if they all lack common sense!  It's ludicrous to use a codec that is of lower quality and capability. Just because someone else is using it.  The cycle of encoding with AV1 and HEVC won't be broken if the majority never thinks for themselves.  We use to have an excellent but invisible set of encoding rules everyone followed out of respect for Anime, people who create it and encoders that paved the way by figuring out most of the how's, whats, and whys. Then shared all the info with the community.  It all went to shit in the fall of 2010 when the first new generation of fans showed up with a million others trailing behind.

funi'machinations was waiting for the new generation after they had posted ads on social media sites about their Anime streaming service. It was also when they decided to make good on a threat to stop sharing.  When the fall season began, files had tripled in size on the streaming servers, h.10 and then hevc began showing up in encodes, which was thanks to A.I bots working 24/7 downloading semi-private encodes from fan-archives then converting them to h.10 and later hevc.  It killed fan archives because the guys were upset everything they made was being reshared under different names. File sharing of Anime jumped 3000%. It was to bloat h10 popularity and garner favoritism from new fans wanting to try encoding. Monkey see monkey do. for the first 3 years .10 was around all other media file sharing pulled an files encoded with h10 or hevc to keep support questions about file that won't play to a minimum.

Four years earlier in 2007 after blaming sharing as the reason 6 of 8 Anime export/import companies went bankrupt, all at the same time. And on the surface funimation vowed to get revenge for the companies now gone by stopping Anime sharing. Nobody actually believed sharing was at fault or that they could stop sharing. Under the surface things were far different and nothing could be done even if it was known at the time. Anime lost its security to remain unchanged by western influence.  Since there was only 2 companies instead of 8, funimation was now poised to strike. Anime studios must have been blind sighted when they started making demands. Sentai stayed faithful but funimation they went for the throat. First to go was 4 minutes per episode shaved off to make room for commercials.  Things progressively got worse for Anime as everyone knows.  If funi was still owned by the people who started it. Anime would probably remain mostly the same.  However in 2005 it was sold to Universal Pictures.  A corporate america monster Uni.Pic has been around a log time and a seasoned veteran at staking the deck in their favor.  They even moved funi's headquarters in California to Texas where Sentai has its headquarters. Nothing suspicious about that.  Thats enough ranting.

A bit of research turns up a lot of information.  Things like how M.A.L. was started by funimation in 2005 after it was sold off to Uni.Pic.  and for a time back then, it even said it.  after looking at everything thats happened, it's clear Anime its creators and fans, we were all slow-played by the movie industry.  Do the research find the answers.

However HEVC, AV1 and 4k have nothing to do with Funimation/corporate America. They're the normal/routine/common evolution of technology. Just like AVI, FLV and Xvid  gave way to MP4, MKV and AVC.

Jesus man must you always bitch? And with essays.... Who gives a fuck. L You have major issues. You bitch about Japan but you'd be looked at as a moron if you threw these tantrums in their country they'd shun you. I agree with the other guy ... "Find professional help."

Personally as much as I love anime I certainly wouldn't want to to have to live all proper and work the way they do. Ive worked a lot of 60 to 80 hour weeks in my life and it can drag a lot of people down if its done for a long time. Burn out is real. If people dont get a chance to unwind and relieve stress things can go bad. As great as the things they produce they have a high rate of suicides for a reason. Basically no country is perfect. There is good and bad with every country.  If you dont like the U.S. please move out. We wont miss you.

"they have a high rate of suicides for a reason"

It should be said that your information is outdated. Gone are the days that Japan had the highest suicide rate in the world. A lot of change has happened in Japan in the past 10 years for better and work conditions in Japan have improved a lot. You certainly don't know that suicide rate in Japan is lower than the US and is quite close to Finland and Sweden (which are ironically ranked in top 5 happiest countries in the world for the past 10 years).

Your own links work against you. Japan has a 3rd of the population as the U.S. and it ranks just under the U.S.. U.S. ranked 23rrd and Japan ranked 25th. Also those list don't consider the fact that most of the countries at the top are 3rd world countries. Being 23rd and 25th as first world countries is extremely bad. I never said they had the highest rate of suicide. I said they have a high rate of suicide. You posted links and didn't even bother to read.
From the first link you posted
Japan is the twenty-fifth country with the highest suicide rate, with 15.3 suicides per 100,000 people. Suicide has long been a major issue in Japan, and the country has one of the highest suicide rates among developed nations.
Sure it also has they are working on it but it doesn't say Japan "had" it says Japan "has"
If you had ever taken courses psychology you'd know that holding everything inside isnt good on the psyche. Sure they may seem happy on the outside but living like a bunch of Vulcans isnt a good thing emotionally.
Acting like a nut case like many do in the U.S. isnt a good thing but being shunned for expressing yourself also isnt a good thing.
Its there culture and sure they dont have a lot of problems other countries do but it doesn't mean they are all happy. The rate of suicides speaks for itself.
I dont want to get into a full pointless debate. Living in the U.S. I really cant speak for another culture. Like most of us here all we know is what we read or hear.

One thing I did want to add though is even though the depression rate in Japan is half of the U.S. rate you can take that number with a grain of salt. In a culture shuns people for expressing emotion how honest do you think everyone will be with whether they are actually happy or depressed? Its more likely most would say they are happy even if they arent just to keep showing "proper etiquette."
If they were truly one of the happiest countries the suicide rate wouldn't be one of the highest for developed first world countries.

"Japan has a 3rd of the population as the U.S. and it ranks just under the U.S."
While you wrote the above sentence, you also wrote the one below and I'm just amazed!!! o.0
You posted links and didn't even bother to read.

It seems you didn't understand that report well. It doesn't matter if a country has a population of 330 million, 120 million, 5.5 million or under 1 million, because the rate is calculated for every 100,000 people living in a country. And I didn't say Japan doesn't have suicide problem but I emphasized that its situation is at least better than the US. Considering your sentence "If you dont like the U.S. please move out.".

"If they were truly one of the happiest countries the suicide rate wouldn't be one of the highest for developed first world countries."
Did you notice that Finland, Sweden and Switzerland which have been among top 10 happiest countries in the world in the past 10 years are ironically quite close to Japan in the suicide rates ranking? Japan hasn't been among top 20 in those report and they don't try to pretend to be happy.

And work culture has changed and improved significantly in Japan in the past decade.

Anyway, all I wanted to do was mentioning the facts and clearing misunderstandings.
