This little series was very important to early anime fans in the US and UK, along with "Aim for the top Gunbuster," "Here is Greenwood," "Bubblegum Crisis" and "Record of Lodoss War" it was consistently on folks top 5 OVAs of the day.
Back in '95 I went to Japan specifically to get the LD's for this as the fansub - project daikon iirc seemed murky colourwise, especially the first episode. Turned out it wasn't the fault of the fansub as the LD's were just as bad. There was a rumour back then that the fansub group actually owned the rights to distribute Campus Guardress legally in the US, but I was never able to verify that and it never got released to retail outside of Japan.
