Way too much file size for anime that does not have fighting scene

Deaimon has a lot of fine lines, complex shading and gradients.  If you were to squash the releases too much it would turn the show into a large smudge.   Good details in the image can be just as expensive as "fighting scenes"

Oh and the subtitles make up like a third of the filesize so this really isn't too bad...

HEVC format around 3gb for 12-13 episode for this kind anime is normal bro.
PS: just be grateful you watch it for free.

There's no fixed size for anything, hevc can produce 4gb+ with a low enough crf

ik we are all here for free, but we're talking about size. Yes, SIZE.!

Wait -- if size matters --- then she's been lying to me :(

It's funny how everyone and his wife thinks they're an expert on encoding when all they're doing is copy and pasting command lines from google search results. I usually take these size of encodings and reduce them to about 80mb per episode - no loss of quality at all - unless you want to watch them on some huge TV screen, which most don't or can't.

Unless you're watching that on a smartwatch I'd recommend visiting an eye doctor
Cheers

Encodes at this size already have a big reduction of quality. To claim you're re-encoding and starving it even further without further reduction in quality is probably the most idiotic thing I've read on the internet today. Get your eyes checked or maybe watch on something bigger than a phone.

Its definitely not about the size of the tv when it comes to quality though yes you can make out more on a larger tv. Most of the large tvs have crap video quality. Try watching on an oled or high end qled. Some of the mid-range tvs are ok but the high end tvs run around $1500-$1800 for the high end 55" and generally over $2000 for high end 65". If you've ever had a high end tv you would understand why someone doesn't micro files. I can say for a fact micro vids look like shit on an oled. Its not about whether you are wealthy or not its about keeping good credit. Lots of 0% interest payment plans that give you a year or two to pay it off but only with good credit. Id never be able to buy a high end tvs if I didn't have a year or two to pay it off and no way in hell if I had to pay interest.
The point is anyone saying there isn't  a difference is buying low end or low mid-range tvs. You can even tell a difference with a quality mid-range tv. Same applies to monitors.
You are the one claiming to be am expert.

Yes, $2K TV. 99.9% who owns those devices don't watch anime.

Our squiggly text game where the aim is to copy the image into the textbox. All characters are upper case, and there are no zeros (0) and ones (1) in the above image. Apparently bots aren't as good as humans at this game.
