AT uses public file services, like Solidfiles. You have to figure out how to get what you want from them without getting nuisances or sometimes maybe something worse. You can do this by either understanding how each site works or using a download manager that avoids the gunk and gets the goods.

Some people should perhaps instead consider using a place that only uses private file servers, like http://chauthanh.info/ where these are not issues.

Regardless, you should also take the precaution of making sure your computer is always up to date for the OS, browser and browser plug-ins (especially Flash and Silverlight), and AV.
