When the source looks that shit there is no point in jacking the bitrate to infinity, it's still gonna look shit regardless. You could probably encode it in 2003 XviD and it would look the same, like shit.

It might technically look worse, but given the low quality of the original you probably wouldn't be able to notice the difference unless you're examining individual frames (instead of, you know, just watching the video).

That's how I watch, examining individual frame.
That's what gets me about some comparisons, you have to look hard to see any improvement yet they expect you to notice right away when the vid is running.

I've been watching anime and movies by downloading them since 2006, so I know the video quality will improve by changing to a good codec.

Although the original remaster size is at least 1GB. But video image quality is better when encoded to x265 or AV1.
