>It is recommended that you use [mpv](https://mpv.io/), or [MPC-HC](https://mpc-hc.org/) with XySubFilter or AssFilterMod, to watch this and other releases of mine.
Yeah, these videos just won't play in VLC or Windows Media Player. Bummer.
02/06/2019 16:25 — Anonymous
It plays fine with VLC and WMP on both of my comps. Maybe you need a better toaster.
02/06/2019 16:44 — Anonymous: "Bat Guano"
Hm! Maybe. Perhaps I need to check for updates.

This group is known for using 4:4:4 profile, which is sometimes a problem for VLC and others.  In this case, only the ova's are 444, the oad is not.
02/06/2019 17:03 — Anonymous: "Bat Guano"
Yes, my VLC played the OAD after briefly flickering a few times, but the OVAs only played audio while the video flickered wildly. I hope Deadfish posts the OVA2 soon.

VLC has recognized the 4-4-4 problem and plans to fix it, I believe.

If and when you are looking to use a different player, I recommend:

http://potplayer.daum.net/

(Why do they always use crappy names like CCCP and Potplayer)

CCCP and KCP both seems dead/abandoned.

CCCP is done as far as I know, I haven't looked at KCP in a long time.  My Norton would never allow it due to low volume of users in their data.  I think they both used MPC-HC, which is also, say we say, retired and showing cracks despite k-lite's promises.  For example, there were some web subs that came through here.  Potplayer and VLC recognized them, MPC-HC/K-lite didn't.  Not a big deal, but there have been other things that only MPC-HC/K-lite couldn't do.

KCP (k-Lite Codec Pack) never been dead as it always keep release update once every week or once per 2 week. It perfect player, free and can configure many thing too compare to VLC

Good to hear, the more choices the better.

Huh, Kawaii Codec Pack has dead for years.
03/06/2019 05:01 — Azraei97
Sorry, What I mean K-Lite Codec Pack (KCP) not Kawaii Codec Pack (KCP)
03/06/2019 08:26 — Anonymous
they are known as KLCP for ages, even as official.
02/06/2019 19:43 — Anonymous
You mean KMplayer/KMP. We are talking abt codec packs, KCP
02/06/2019 18:18 — Anonymous
Thanks! Potplayer worked, even on my antiquated toaster. Perhaps my codices need updating for VLC to work.

I use a low-end testbed for stuff so I can say whether something will only work well for new machines.  Potplayer performs very well on stuff that didn't work well with MPC-HC/K-lite.
02/06/2019 17:34 — Anonymous
Both VLC and WMP played the OAD and OVAs just fine here on 2 different comps. One even has onboard video since I don't need a vid card on it.
I think it comes down to the hardware and codecs that are installed.

-_- just use the superior mpv.

There are legitimate reasons EVERY fansubber recommends it.

It is not a viable recommendation for the average anime fan.  They want to watch shows, not learn programming scripts or assembling an interface.

The reason tech people like it is because they are tech people.  If anyone doubts, read the mpv faq, if you can.  On my testbed mpv and potplayer were simular in performance.

02/06/2019 18:51 — Anonymous
This is a misconception entirely. mpv requires zero programming.
You do not need to make a .conf
It's entirely optional, whether you want to customize things.
And even if you DO, there are .conf out there so you can just copy it.

The reason fansubbers like it, isn't anything to do with being tech people. It's everything to do with it entirely being the best option where everything works and nothing is broken. The subtitle renderer is vastly superior to all other options. Subs that break in every other player works majestically in mpv.

At least try not to spread bologna.

At the very least, if you must use a GUI, use SMPlayer, as it's a frontend for mpv.

I'm glad you're happy with what you have.  Please bear in mind that our fans run a large range of people who are very different from you.

With Potplayer everything works and nothing is broken as far as I'm aware, and it's full of ready to use options.

I cannot recommend mpv as it currently is to the AT audience.

I wonder why no one has done a K-lite type package for mpv that has stuck?  As it is, there are also security concerns people will have about copying and adding parts to their configurations.  And the support is not geared to their level.
02/06/2019 19:14 — Anonymous
Potplayer is garbage.

K-Lite for mpv is pointless because mpv doesn't need any codec packs and works right out of the box with no work needed.

If you must use a GUI, go with SMPlayer as it uses mpv in the backend.

When someone starts talking garbage the credibility of that person is gone and that discussion is over.

Sounds like the same guy who's been plaguing potplayer forum and Nyaa.
02/06/2019 19:29 — Anonymous
Why would I use that when mpc-BE works fine?
03/06/2019 16:48 * — Azraei97
Thanks for recommendation. I have use PotPlayer before but due to it unable to read subtitle from fansub that heavy animated and kfx properly, I stop using it and back to KLCP. MPV was great player just the UI I does not really like. Well I use most MPV base player in my phone (MX Player) to watch anime in my phone that works perfectly with nice UI on it. So I try SMPlayer since u say it use mpv. Just tweak shortcut key in SMPlayer and other setting and walla. It's works even better then KLCP.

Thanks again. I just start leaning Linux recently. It was nice bonus SMPlayer to have Linux support.

I hate it when fansub release refuses to hardcode effects heavy op-ed/sign subs. Sometimes you will comes across a sub (.ass) file as big as 20mb.
03/06/2019 18:24 — Anonymous
You can turn karaoke and other effects off on most video players and get just the text.
03/06/2019 22:47 — Anonymous
Hardsubbing is a good way to discourage ever making v2s of releases or putting the subs on better video.
03/06/2019 23:17 — Anonymous: "Anon"
Only if v2 has something to do with the subs. Anything else is a remux or requires another encode.
04/06/2019 00:48 — Anonymous
20 MB is tiny.

I've seen some karaoke effects and sign typesets end up being 300+ MB
04/06/2019 01:57 — Anonymous
highest one I've come across was around 80mb and that was for a movie.
02/06/2019 19:15 — Anonymous
Kodi & Plex also work fabulous with mpv.
