Yeah! Someone at myanimelist.net described it probably very well:
Impulsive... Ridiculous... Crazy... Funny... and truly STRANGE. But don't expect much of a plot or character development.

OK, not your taste. Maybe the show generally was not very popular, as there were no BD fansub release. So I'm not very surprised.
For me still 8 out of 10 points. I also think it's much more androgyn than anyway gayish, but again a matter of taste...

Still, I do like short anime in general. My ever favourite is "Danka ga Nani"
Man that anime is great, funny and deep.

On an additional note, I do like crazy, stupid, meaningless-activities-centred anime too, hence I liked that aspect of this anime, BUT, the gay/androgyny element and the bishounen vibe was way too strong and less female participation made it really...

That being said, I wonder why I like Nanbaka?

Have Nanbaka on my list of interest, but haven't watched any sec, yet...
