Someone who sounds like the OP has created a hostile atmosphere for this anime here --A very strange thing for a supposed fan to do to their favorite anime. Comments are going to be interpreted in terms of that hostile atmosphere.

"talking about the show" --that hasn't been a bit thing here. Comments has been mostly for people to point out errors or problems they've had with the downloads. I don't think you can have any long or serious discussions when there's an open door to the net and anons

Actually I've have had suggested we switch to a proper comment service with moderation tools like Disqus, back when theclockwork guy was plaguing the site. But admin said something about trolls/spamming being not a serious issue and wanting to keep everything simple. That was almost 2 years ago.

well real/actual on-topic show discussion moved along the lines of discussing a particular encode or fansub releases, all though might be rare now, it used to happen back when AT first started out. Most these type of discussions waned after 2015-2016. While I have watched AT grow to be featured around the web among popular sites, it's sad to see it get turned into another chan-like site by certain unsavory individuals.

Nice to chat with long-timers. admin made the right call, and I'm personally very happy with how we've progressed as a site. One of our main goals has always been durability -that we would be around for a long time. It's kept us focused and avoiding side ventures. With all the changes in the fansub community, it's hard to see how it has affected comments here, but it somehow has. I would say certain interesting personalities have moved on, to our loss, but knowledge about many things is more common than before.

To take a minimal example, I wonder how long it's been since someone asked me how to join and open a 7z file.

Believe it or not, AT doesn't want to be number one in terms of popularity. We'd prefer to let others catch the enforcement arrows while we hide in the tall grass. For now, we'll see if people cooperate with not trying to make us a blog site. If that doesn't work, we have options.

Facebook isn't attractive, but thanks for the suggestion.

I believe so too. Here's what I say: A fan would have dropped the discord paste when it bothered people, for the sake of the show. A fan wouldn't keep baiting people about taking credit, whatever he thought, since it created hostility for the show page.

All this noise has been about one person and his needs and not about the show. Such a fan should stay out of comments for the sake of the show.

Aikatsu is a happy ending for everyone kind of show. Harukaze Wakaba is in either op or end and has been introduced. Like to see her character developed more or even a spin off like with stars would be fun.

The Clockwork kiddo was the biggest bother here on AT just until a few weeks ago. But the problem with Aikatsu Friends! has simply become a nuisance much bigger than him.

I strongly oppose changing commenting system including moving to something like Disqus, however I strongly believe that something should be done to solve this problem of Aikatsu Friends!.

Until several weeks ago, most of the discussions here on AT have been about technical side of the shows e.g. quality of subs, audio, video and downloading process, but now ... (-_-)
To tackle this and similar problems in the future, I suggest viewing many of the comments (not all) in Aikatsu Friends! comment sections as spam and removing them altogether to discourage such behaviour and to prevent AT becoming another fanboy blog.

Well, it's not about just today. To see my point, it's enough to view the last 10 pages of 'Latest Comments' to find out how much of commenting space here on AT goes to '[Mezashite] Aikatsu Friends!'.

If you uncheck the "none" box on the Latest Messages page, all the Aikatsu goes away, doesn't it? Instead, it mostly becomes you, doesn't it? (Well for a page). If someone doesn't use the Q:, maybe they'll eventually try Feedback.

I understand that the comment sections main function is perhaps to comment on and report issues in the releases, technical stuff and whatnot. The community related stuff is pretty cool too though, it's something to read whilst waiting on a download. Browsing the comments is a choice, no one ever forces me or anyone else to read them, they are VERY easy to ignore. In fact, I bet a good percentage of the sites users hardly ever notice comments at all. PLease leave the site as is.

btw, we have no method to deal with spoiler comments. We tried a few things but our comments system is pretty basic. Would you be willing to accept that risk? I think that's another reason to blog elsewhere instead.

This seems to be the only show that has these issues. If you just keep deleting the links and mentions of certain fan sites for the next few weeks they will tire of trying to advertise their sites and give up.
I know it will be harder for the mods like yourself to stay on top of it for a few weeks but the problems will go away.
The people/person that keeps pushing these sites leaves a bad impression of the type of people that follow this franchise.

anime comminuity is kinda robust and thick skinned, lol, I guess it's due to the shit we've all endured irl. I'd hate to see a few SJWs or whatever railroad the admins into removing the comments function, or worse, making it log in only.
