I've given [LostYears] files a try a few times and haven't got one that isn't corrupted (video doesn't work for me)
What am I missing? Surely no-one it consistently that incompetent. Why bother?

You need a player/system that can handle Hi444pp. Their videos play just fine for me.
There is nothing wrong with their encodes, the problem is on your end.

If it's "corrupted" for you, then your media player is at least 3 years out of date.

Rcommend mpv, but if you use mpc-hc you'll need to make sure the lav filters are updated.

As you can see from the screenshots, even animetosho's renderer read the video without issue.
