It's 12 bit and several players won't handle it, but will handle 10 bit.
12 bit is a waste at this point of time until the sources start coming out in higher than 8 bit.
If 12 bit was all that great more encoders would be using it.

If the source is 8 bit as most Blurays are, going to 12 bit won't add colors that aren't there to begin with.
Encoding in 10 bit can reduce some of the color banding but 12 bit is just placebo.
