If my computer had broken down during any other season It wouldn't have mattered as much. That being said. DO ya think these files are a little bit on the big side for 15 minute episodes?! Oh well there's no chance they'll shrink on there own. That leaves me with going to a different source.
Has it ever been considered that funi/cr dropped the h10 codec into Anime to get revenge for all the distributors that went bankrupt. files encoded with h10 are okay in the short run but not long for archives that depend on diversity.

Say what? Funi and CR had nothing to do with 10bit or the development of the codec. . 10bit is here for the long haul and plenty have archived 10bit files.
8bit is pretty much dead as far as most encoders go so maybe you need better toasters?

HS is not an encoder group, they just do web rips from Funi and CR.
Almost all anime is mastered in 10bit then reduced to 8bit for streaming and home distribution.

That's right. This is the era of HEVC, AV1, 4K, 10-bit and 64-bit. Just like many engineering software that don't develop 32-bit version of their programs anymore, in the video scene 8-bit wil be abandoned in the near future too.
Nowadays even mid-range mobile devices and PCs are completely capable of runing such software and videos.

Actually horrible took 90 percent of fansub market by staying 8-bit when fansubs tried to push hi10 on users.

No reason to change now.

HS isn't fansub, they are WEB-DL group. well mostly WEB-DL nowadays. they remain 8-bit because that is what is available to them for stealing.

HS isn't even manually done. It's an automated ripping bot. It rips the videos from the simulcast services and uploads a torrent.
