2.238GB and its HEVC  WTF are they thinking at Kaleido-subs. It's more than a little obvious they should stick to fansubbing and leave video quality to another group. They either strive for overkill in absurdity or the quality of their video source is below whale shit and it takes take much just to make it normal looking.
True the amount of data in a source determines clarity in video. However it doesn't require more than a 5th grade education and a little common sense to learn the right settings on an encoder app to create the same video quality 1/10th the size this thing is if your source is good.  And theirs nothing that can fix shitty graphics used by animators.

People share in the way that they want to and seldom ask for advice.  So I just find what suits me.  Weekly releases are temps to me anyways.

Why do ignorant people like to talk about things they have no idea about only to remove all doubt of their ignorance?

Was that a quote from the Bible?

It was a variation of an old quip.  These are all matters of preference.

The problem with using old quips is you sound utterly pretentious.  If you can't make up something new, then you are.

Sometimes I thank god for closing the nyaa accregistration

From what I see, it doesn't feel like there's anything bad with his encode. I think he just set Constant Quality to more higher quality (default: 22) in Handbrake and instead of encode to x264 format, he decide to encode in x265 format.
He want to differentiate his own encode style than other because some encoder like to upload a bigger size video in x264
example: [Isekai] and [SubsPlease].

PS: Since usually no one encode bigger size video in x265 format, he decide to make it his own style.

Light doesn't use handbrake, he uses CLI.

Anyone who wants to make a good encodes not only chooses appropriate settings such as lower CRF (allows for higher bit rate allocation) but filter the video to eliminate any kind of artifacting in the source, which is not possible with handbrake's subpar filters. So any respectable group will use scripts with VS or AVS and their encoder of choice.

Yikes. You should know that on this site, you can look through the MediaInfo for each file, right? Light has provided his encoding settings.
13/11/2022 23:55 — Anonymous
light even posts his encoding scripts to github

Go watch Judas, or is it too big for your daily data cap?

But their subs aren't any good if you're into anime too. They are taking the localization on whole different level. I'm not saying that they are a garbage, but completely not my cup of tea and to be honest their subs are the opposite that I'm searching for.

take their ts for signs and songs and fuse it with dialogue from "unlocalized" subs

Interestingly,  this version had 250 downloads on Nyaa so far.  There's a guy who does a quick small HEVC remake version at release, he had 4,600 downloads of this episode so far.

the average nyaa user is retarded and probably set up an rss feed without much care for a group, or they just go "muh small file sizes!!! the quality is the same". The subtitles and video on this release are much superior anyways (maybe not that much if you dislike 'localization'). Also has to do with the fact this came out much later than the ep by CR rippers and mini encoders.

Quick to release small versions are the most popular, without a doub.  I'm waiting for the next episode too.

Those few who want a slow different product are welcome to it.  Those versions may be helpful when it comes to BD time.

There's no sense in pretending otherwise.

*doubt

knowing fansubs and how long they tend to stall, I'd wager the final eps for this series (if they ever finish it) will be based on the BDs,
