All you sub groups doing this, all ripping the same source text, what's the point in just repeating each others releases? Come on, surely at least one of you groups can give us an alternative to "Mr. Kirito"

Well, there's always just plain Kirito. After all it is English and suffixes like San, Chan etc are not English.
But I suppose you want the bastardized English version?

"Mr. Kirito" WAS used by horriblesubs in earlier episodes. It's just plain stupid sounding. I don't think anyone wants anything other than a translation that flows with the audio, and maybe the people arguing for a truer representation of the original have a point (note, its NOT an English show, trying to fudge the fact that it IS a Japanese show is just strange in my opinion)

surely at least one of you groups can give us an alternative to "Mr. Kirito"

You can always do what I do if it bothers you:

- Extract or download the subs and edit them to suit your preferences.

- You can even do a mass find/replace on many subs at once using an app like Notepad++ or UltraEdit.
^This is also the easiest way to change styles on multiple subs, too.

Brilliant idea, simple, but maybe beyond the capabilities of some fans. If a few people start doing this for themselves, it would be well appreciated I'm sure if they released their edits to the community here.

OP has a point, there is possibly a dozen fansub groups making releases for this show and for all intents and purposes they are all just repacks of the [horriblesubs] release. A bit of variation could only be a good thing, a "Unique Selling Point" for the various groups

There are less than a dozen fan subbers (less than 6) out there doing this. I think you are placing some of the web rippers into the fan sub category. Just because they may have 'subs' in their tag doesn't mean they are fan subbers.
I can think of 2 groups doing this and they are slow on releases because they have real lives to live.

I think the point being made is that this is a very popular anime, and there are a LOT of different subs for it, yet they all seem to be the same, and its hard to argue with that after downloading all the options available.

Also, I would say any criticism here has been offered in good faith, most here appreciate the work that fansubbers do, and pointing out to these subbers that there maybe a gap in the market for them to be an alternative to horriblesubs seems pretty reasonable all things considered.

They're all the same cause they're all just WEBRips as-is or just re-encodes of the WEBRips with no changes sub-wise.

There is literally only 1 English group working on this show and that is Harunatsu. So I don't know where the claim that there is "a lot" or "a dozen" came from.
