The fact that they translate Shisho as "Mentor" totally kills the immersion. Sort it out, please stop playing to the lowest common denominators

The aniplus version translates it more accuratly as "Master" I can only imagine the horriblesubs (i.e. crunchyroll) subber (an actual paid staffer?) thought that westerners would get the wrong impression, as the word master has negative connotations here, but, simply watching this actual anime would immediatly show the word has a positive meaning in the East.

Not sure what you meant by the negative connotations but I live in the west and am older.
If you mean the 'negative' to refer to slavery only the SJW crowd would think of that one, I didn't until I had to think of what 'might' be negative.

Applying western pc to Japanese fiction is silly to the point of brain damaged. Pay to view translators make these errors because they are not motivated by love of what they are working on.
Things like this will only help the re-emergence of fan-subs.

The so called re-emergence depends on people who love anime and actually have the time to devote to it. Most of the good older fan subbers had to move on because of real life issues like making a living, raising a family or just get tired of all the time and work it takes.
Some of the 'good' subbing groups have slowed down on release times because of the issues listed above.o

"Mentor" is fine. Shishou is merely a title where the "Shishou" teaches the student who addresses them as such. "Master" is fine too, but is nothing special. Making too much of a fuss IMO. Just replace all "Mentor" to "Master" if so annoyed. Takes less than a minute with aegisub. In the first place, complaining here is pointless.
