One of the most legendary episode of an anime that will be remembered in the distant future.

We are ONE, we sail under the one banner, WE ARE THE MEDIUM PIRATES!
Couldn't agree more. It was an epic episode, gut-churning, most emotional, disgust and love. All your feelings get mixed up. Never seen an anime like this. It IS the BEST anime of 2016 with no doubt.

Indeed. There's quite a few contender for me for that title though. For instance, Shouwa Genroku, ERASED, possibly Mob Psycho 100 and then others. I don't know, but I guess gotta wait the year to end to determine the ownership for best 2016 anime. But boy, the sheer amount of firepower this episode alone has fired has determined to welded shut a strong position for the throne. Gotta say, still can't get the hate for Subaru. He's very human and I like his decision, just like how Shinji Ikari is also very very vulnerable and he'll acted like an actual human too. Subaru has a terrible 4.0 character rating right now on AniDB.

People just have that tendency to hate on people that kept on crying through their struggle since they can barely understood what those kind of person like Subaru are going through. Added that a huge percentage of anime watchers are teen (angst ridden but like to looked cool), you shouldn't be surprised.

So we old people understand the pain Subaru is going through, whereas the teens want cool characters, always kakoii... not sore losers, sth like Ichigo?
12/07/2016 05:15 — Arisa
I don't know. Not all old people or adult whatever can understood those sort of things he went through either because we'll all think separately. I think that the only group of people that would be more than likely to get it is of those that went through the same ordeal as Subaru did. Of course, there's no way for us real human to get through those cycle of event but if we were to take an example that could brought unprecendented amount of suffering to a single person like being a war refugee or something, I guess they might understand him better. I have no problem with sympathizing for  the main hero though albeit didn't suffered that much since just being thoughtful enough is sufficient. We as viewer just need to watch his struggle and determination, no need to give out hands or anything since he doesn't existed.

All that being said, sympathizing with him doesn't need all those conditions. We as humans, can understand with a little thinking, (if ur open-minded enough to) such pains. I say understand, but there is no way we can understand all the way, what he feels, etc... Just understand the reasoning behind his actions.
In a chatbox, once, someone was saying that Subaru is really lame and that he needs to get it together. I went mad. Told him, You cannot even imagine being in his place, yet you dare speak like this, as if dying alone, for many time and feeling the pain of death with no one understanding you there, isn't enough, yet the cruelty of that world added, the pain of losing the ones u love, experiencing that pain over and over, seeing all those taking place, yet unable to take action, the frustration and... Of course one's mind will break. And I seriously can't believe he comes back from those mind breaks over and over. It's just too much...

Hello, 00sas. My reply to you is down there. I think I hit the wrong reply button.

Sorry for the late reply, I got busy. Nice to read your respond there and I totally agreed with you regarding everything and you worded it out much better than I did. True, we can't possibly understand every inch of what Subaru felt throughout his journey or dying and resurrecting for so much time already and since our option are so limited, like you said, having learn his reasoning enough is better than nothing.

Lame, huh? Easier said it than done, they say. This case is pretty similar with how Shinji Ikari was treated by the anime community most of the time. He is said to be stupid, annoying and too weak to make any sort of decision and yet, he never felt love as his father is one piece of shit, he was forced to ride the EVA and fought off extraterestrial being that could kill in an instant. Hardly anything that a normal human could get through without breaking down especially if that human has barely been supported. I think it was simply that common concept of thinking that boy be brave and girl be staying in household. That's how it has always been in the past and althought that sort of mentality has decreased these days, it is still embedded in the heart of so many people. We simply like to put unrealistic expectation to each gender and thought that each girls and boys should put in reaction that is supposed to be normal for them despite that everyone is different . There would always be cowardice and frail man along with strong and decisive woman. Seeing how both Subaru and Shinji kept crying their eyes out, some people just get annoyed and scream out "man the []out!" to the laptop/computer/television screen, which might have been the result of the gender expectation, or they just can't understand these characters at all.

Well, I can't blame the viewers for wanting to see what they expect, although you have quite diverted from the main topic, and I have not seen Neon, it all is fictional, so I see no reason why they wouldn't bitch about "pathetic" MCs.

Now be honest with yourself and answer that, isn't it quite pleasant to see cool MC and fragile Heroin being protected? Although I couldn't give a rat's ass about that stuff, the majority of anime fans like this stuff, hence it's popularity and variety of it's numerous anime.

But a man, SHOULD be a "man". That is to say a man, be it in films, tv series, or anime, should act manly in the end. Whatever the pain, frustration and... he endured, he should, and will man up at the end. Otherwise, that is a story not worth telling. So Im all for whatever hardship meanwhile, it's entertaining in it's own way, but the end is more important. As you will see how Subaru "man"s up and overcomes his pains and fears, which makes his story worth telling.

There.

Yeah, nothing wrong to make expectation too. Things can go a lot of ways, and I'm not much good in discussion any way because I find it hard to focus on one thing and somehow move on to a more personal agenda. I got nothing else to say about this, and let people do what they wanna do. And it seemed my post would always have shit that I meant to say but forgot to put it in there somewhere as for example, your final wording. Maybe it's due to my lacking english skill or just the so damn bad writing/typing. Oh look, stray from the path again. I will move on before I embarassed myself. Sorry if I offended you in any sort of way, 00sas.

The heck you're on about dude? You are really good in writing and English (I sensed a sarcasm in your writing there, right me if I'm wrong.)

And thought always tend to go haywire while trying to write/talk about a certain topic, so there is nothing wrong with that. Don't belittle yourself, cuz you most certainly did not embarras yourself. You're fun to talk to, and maybe that's because we are nakama on this certain matter...

So stay strong and One Piece:-P

Hahaha.

No.

"Hahaha. No"?.. That's all you can say though?..Hahaha, hahaha!

Want better mind break time loop theme with non-pathetic main character?
Watch/play Steins;Gate. Or maybe read All You Need Is Kill.
I recommend Steins;Gate, tho, since it's "legendary".
Should I write TL;DR things like you do?
14/07/2016 12:19 *Afezeria
Is it not better to just enjoy them all instead? Also, before calling a character as pathetic, you might want to understand them first.
14/07/2016 14:13 — Anonymous
Shhh, don't say that all they need to do is give all similar themed series like Re Zero a good watch and enjoy those as it is. It would make too much sense for them.

Like how this anon just came on here, mock Re zero, get called out for the reason why he can't just enjoy similar anime equally and can't even chime in an answer.
