This is the same episode 1 from 2001 with new artwork and voices. I watched this one and the old version back to back. For those that have forgotten how far anime has progressed I suggest you do the same. The labor intensive art of 2001 compared to the computer drawn and colored art of today. It makes me sad to see rather poor CGI start to encroach just as computer drawn anime reaches its peak.

TV shows, movies as well as anime all get recycled. This has been going on for years. (for anime usually the hint is the "year" next to the title)

Never read the manga or watched the 2001 series, but I enjoyed this episode and am looking forward to more.

Me too. The only difference is that I watched 720p version and will wait for the BD to come out.
