Google Drive Folder: [removed by request]

@admin can you remove this since its the original link from kametsu.

Removed by request, though I cannot confirm the source nor the original intent. Presumably, the original poster did not want this to be posted here, but I have absolutely no confirmation beyond the above anonymous commenter.

Kametsu has had a ton of links DMCA'd because people posted the links outside of the Kametsu forum onto 4chan, reddit and other high profile public sites.

Thanks for the explanation.
I can't control what people post elsewhere unfortunately.
If Kametsu's model relies on keeping private information, it's up to them to ensure it remains private. If it is proving problematic, then perhaps the strategy needs to be re-thought or tweaked?

What I want to point out is that I don't feel that it is my responsibility to fix another site's problems. You'll probably find that other site owners/moderators have similar opinions.
We can remove info on request, as a gesture of goodwill, but I prefer not to and it's not something I intend to burden ourselves with long term. Ultimately I think these actions do little to solve, or even mitigate, the underlying problem.

Yeah, unfortunately file hosts out in the open tend to rapidly be DMCA'd (as you're aware with how often links are dead here at AnimeTosho within a few weeks typically). Putting them behind a simple "free" registration and an introductory post requirement in hopes of keeping crawling bots from prying can only go so far when users are bent on either being destructive or simply ignorant of the consequences.

Uploaders tend to put notices in their upload threads to let people know not to repost the links elsewhere, but to copy them to their own accounts and share their own link so the original links can remain fine. Obviously this model only works when people are willing to not play dirty and unfortunately being able to be "anonymous" ensures the people leaking such links can continue to do so without consequence.

The only other options involve locking out everyone and only sharing with select few trustworthy users through PMs or setting up some kind of usergroup promotions based on trust. Neither are ideal. We did run some tests with a "VIP Section" allowing uploaders to share some files to fewer users and others to the entire community, and it worked for a time. The problem mostly lies with "reddit users" who kept sharing links on megalinks. Fortunately when the people in charge of that were notified of what was happening, they helped stopped it and the three users responsible were banned from the community.

Almost all of the American animation Amazon and iTunes rips come from users of Kametsu, so it makes sense that there are those wishing to share that content elsewhere. We don't care if they do. Sharing is a good thing. It's just polite to copy the files to your own filehost account and share that instead. =)

Haven't had too much problem lately. The few slips here and there are usually from people who just want to be helpful but were clueless how copy/pasting the existing link to the public can be harmful.

In any case, we tend to share torrents publicly and keep the file hosts links out of "bots" reach. They definitely remain up longer this way (we've got some links that have remained available for 6 years now).

Thanks for providing all the information. It's interesting to hear your thoughts and what you've tried.
It sounds like you have things mostly under control, and I don't see these things happening frequently, so hopefully it's not much of an issue.

This is just one post of many that still function the way intended. I was able to get to the links on the NYAA post and downloaded everything. Though I was surprised  to find this encoded to something other than the industry standard AVC8bit. Now if i could just find the second half of this series encoded the same or better as a industry standard encode.  Both Links and the Torrent still function properly.

Please be aware of the following before commenting:
  • Anime Tosho provides a mirror of torrents and is not the source. Please understand that uploaders/submitters may not read comments here, so you should check the Source Links section near the top of this page if you wish to contact them
  • Expired links do NOT get reuploaded as files are deleted after we process them
  • Uploads are NOT instant, so please wait for them to be processed. The entire uploading process is done by a bot which does NOT read any comments, so asking for links will have no effect on when they show up
  • Critical comments are welcome, however note that statements such as "X is crap" or "Y sucks" are NOT criticisms. Please provide reasoning with critical comments to be informative, helpful and allow for debate.

Our squiggly text game where the aim is to copy the image into the textbox. All characters are upper case, and there are no zeros (0) and ones (1) in the above image. Apparently bots aren't as good as humans at this game.
