What anybody with any awareness really cares about is a good sub that flows seemlessly in the background, and the best way to that is to have commonly used names and terms written as they are spoken. Any attempts at anglosition is as trying to put a square peg in a round hole, the two linguistic systems are way too incompatable for simple straight swaps.

If you put in as much time actually learning Japanese as you do bitching about how it was intended to be translated then your problems would be solved. I could care less how its translated as long as the translation is basically the same.

Put a pacifiers in your mouths so you stop bawling about honorifics learn and Japanese. Then you can translate the anime yourself instead of bitching about others work.

If honorifics are there cool and if they aren't cool. As long as the translation is decent that's all that is important. Again no one really gives a crap if they are there are not except the morons who are to lazy to learn Japanese or do any work in life except to bitch about others work.

if it so important that you need the feeling of little girl cuteness of oni-kun or whatever in your anime you can get by learning Japanese or better yet get the hell out of your mommies basement and find yourself a girl or boy if that's the way you roll and then you can be cute with each other with honorifics all you want.

If I go to Japan then I will be pressed about honorifics otherwise who gives a crap.

I was oin the fence with this prior to this debate. Now however I am in total agreement that having honorific terms intact feels more natural, is less obtrusive and flows better since the subs are in alignment with the audio.
