Experimenting something on the English version, the other languages (Arabic, French, Italian, Spanish) are experimentations as well.
There might be more issues than usual in this release.
Will continue to work on improving all of that.

I'd suggest using the english version for now, the other ones are still not "it", I already identified a few things that are not good at all.

For the English subtitles, the workflow has improved and the quality has gone up a bit.
There are still some issues to fix, but overall they’re better than what I’ve done before.

As for the subtitles in other languages, since they’re based on the English version, they still need a lot of work to sound more natural.
Right now, the wording feels too Americanized and not quite right yet.

I'll work on it to be ready for next week's episode.
16/08/2025 18:33 — Anonymous: " "
What is "the workflow"? How does this translate to "better quality"? What do you mean about the wording in the subtitles?

Is this an AI translation or something?

Look, you might not notice this but a loosy format converted to loseless will retain its loosiness and still able to hear the so-called artifacts, so you're bloating the filesize for nothing in exchange.

[NeoLX] ⛱️ DanDaDan, Call of the Night, BLOOM (Fansub), Hikaru, One Piece ⛱️
Look, you might not have a single brain cell, but when you're applying filters to a lossy audio, it's best not to reencode it to lossy but rather to lossless, not so that it looks FLAC and OMG THATS SUPER GOOD QUALITY, but simply to not screw up the enhancements you made.
18/08/2025 16:46 — Anonymous: "anon"
Nah, that's just silly. Whatever enhancements and filters you've done on loosy audio, loosy will be always loosy, even in different format/codec and quality.

That's basically like you trying to upscale a heavily compressed 200x200 JPEG to 2000x2000px PNG, people will notice how bad it is immediately. You can fool it in a glance, yes, but it won't take long time for people to call it unpleasant.

Best bet to rather downsample from master file or at least BD.

-> Whatever enhancements and filters you've done on loosy audio, loosy will be always loosy, even in different format/codec and quality.

Think of it like video: when you apply filters, you can sometimes fix or improve the quality. The same idea applies to audio.
AAC compression removes a lot of the higher frequencies (and even some mids) while also introducing artifacts.
My goal is simply to correct those problems and restore the sound as much as possible.

Even though the source is lossy, this version preserves more detail and has fewer artifacts.

You can't add something that's missing. If a higher frequency is missing, converting it to another format doesn't magically bring it back.

You don't know what lossy means either.

Nope, even video remaster is bad. Sure there's people that willing to add filters like debanding and grain, but that's it. If the video file is already bad from the source, you can not restore it at all, unless you're willing to edit from highest possible source available and accessible, which is impossible at the moment unless you're "blackmailing" the studio staff or become part of.

AAC compression removes a lot of the higher frequencies (and even some mids) while also introducing artifacts.
Yes, that's loosy by nature, the details will lost and can not be recovered. Whatever you do, those frequencies will gone forever. Even if you're using AI to do the task, it only do "great" once, and start hallucinating hard after.

He already knows the source is lossy, what he doesn't know is that he thinks he can recover these generational loss from lossy format using AI. It's futile because the data/information is already lost/missing. These "attempted" recovery of said data is artificial and pointless even using lossless format like FLAC as the output.
19/08/2025 09:39 *ThisisLX
[NeoLX] ⛱️ DanDaDan, Call of the Night, BLOOM (Fansub), Hikaru, One Piece ⛱️
I get your point — data lost to lossy compression is gone, nobody can deny that. But that doesn’t mean remastering or filtering is "bad" or pointless. Anime remasters prove this every year. Take old shows from the 80s/90s: even when the original cels are lost, studios and fans still manage to clean, upscale, and color-correct the video to look far better than the VHS or early TV rips. If "bad source = doomed forever", those Blu-ray restorations wouldn’t exist — yet they do, and they sell because the improvement is obvious.

Also, anime is unique because of its art style. It’s mostly flat colors, strong outlines, and repeating patterns — exactly the kind of material that can be enhanced by filters and AI. Line sharpening, debanding, color stabilization, and AI upscaling don’t "recover" the lost pixels, but they reconstruct them in a way that looks authentic. That’s why things like Anime4K or Waifu2x are widely used: they work specifically because anime isn’t natural footage.

Yeah, exactly — AAC does throw away frequencies permanently, no argument there. But that doesn’t mean there’s nothing you can do with it after the fact. Restoration isn’t about magically pulling the lost frequencies back, it’s about making what’s left sound better. Tools can smooth out the artifacts AAC introduces, balance the mids and lows, and even mask the holes so the track feels cleaner and less compressed.

That’s why studios still remaster older anime audio even when the original masters aren’t available — because even from lossy sources, you can make a version that’s more listenable. The missing data doesn’t come back, but the experience can be improved, and that’s ultimately what matters to viewers.

So yeah, mathematically "gone is gone", but practically speaking, remastering works. If what you’re saying were 100% true, there’d be no difference between a VHS fansub and a Blu-ray remaster — but everyone can see and hear the difference immediately. That’s why dismissing all restoration as "bad" doesn’t hold up.
19/08/2025 12:44 — Anonymous: "You arer out of your comfort zone. "
I can't believe you typed out all of that nonsense and came to this conclusion. The lack of critical thinking and evidence to back up your claims is astounding.

You have this romanticist idea on how AI works and fixes things. It doesn't work like that.

That’s why things like Anime4K or Waifu2x are widely used: they work specifically because anime isn’t natural footage.

Those are not AI. Those are not even upscalers, they are shitty shaders which people deulude themseleves into thinking it makes their anime look better. It doesn't.. They damage footage by being overly sharp and smear colours and destroy fine lines.

f what you’re saying were 100% true, there would be no difference between a VHS fansub and a Blu-ray remaster

VHS has an average of 0.08 Megapixels a frame, the average 35mm film stock can range from 25 to 54 megapixels a frame. I am sure you can do the math and work out why old film looks better when "remastered" compared to a VHS copy.  deny it all you want but it is fact.
19/08/2025 13:08 — Anonymous: "01"
I'll be pedantic but I hope this clears the doubts of anyone reading this: Anime4k isn't an upscaler but Waifu2x is a neural network based resolution doubling model (hence the 2x in the name), so it's an upscaler. It is also widely used by *good* encoders (not NeoLX) for rescaling.

- FOR ANYONE WONDERING ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THESE TRANSLATIONS -

Since I always have to explain myself, here’s a quick comparison from Episode 6: NeoLX vs. NF.
The meaning is the same—the phrasing could be better, but remember, this is a 30-minute to 1-hour release.
I’m pretty sure the NF translation team spends hours polishing theirs.

-------

NeoLX : I saw you both at a café together.
NF : I saw you two at that café.

NeoLX : It was purely coincidental.
NF : It was honestly just a coincidence.

NeoLX : After you left, I approached him to talk.
NF : After you two parted ways, I went up and talked to Tsumugi.

NeoLX : And I told him... I didn't want him to see you anymore.
NF : I asked him not to see you anymore.

NeoLX : K-Kaoruko...
NF : Kaoruko.

NeoLX : I acted on my own...
NF : I went behind your back.

NeoLX : My apologies!
NF : I'm sorry!

NeoLX : I'm deeply sorry.
NF : I'm really sorry.

NeoLX : Subaru.
NF : Subaru.

NeoLX : Please...
NF : Geez.

NeoLX : Apologizing so suddenly startled me.
NF : You startled me, suddenly apologizing like that.

NeoLX : Huh?
NF : What?

NeoLX : During that incident at the school gate, I realized the tension between Chidori and Kikyou.
NF : At the school gate, I saw how bad things were between Chidori and Kikyo.

NeoLX : I was the one causing you pain, wasn't I?
NF : I put you through a lot, didn't I?

NeoLX : What are you saying?
NF : What are you talking about?

NeoLX : You spoke to Rintarou-kun because you were thinking of me, right?
NF : You only asked Rintaro that because you wanted to protect me, right?

NeoLX : If it means protecting Kaoruko's happiness, that's enough for me.
NF : If I can protect Kaoruko's happiness, I can live with that.

NeoLX : You're truly kind, Subaru.
NF : You're always so kind, Subaru.

NeoLX : Sorry for worrying you.
NF : I'm sorry I made you worry.

Case reopened.

Could you also provide comparisons of the Arabic, French, Italian, and Spanish subtitles?

The NF subs are better in literally every single example... It takes *real* talent to mess up every single line. Congrats, "LX".

I imagine he's not doing this to create quality subs. Asking him to provide quality subs with AI is just not possible for obvious reasons.

Who cares?

My version is released 30 minutes to an hour after the NF JP release.
Netflix’s "international" version comes out a week later—of course theirs is better.

The point of my comment was to show that it’s accurate to the context.
The wording may not always be perfect and there might be a few issues here and there, but it’s *more* than "good enough".

It only takes 30 minutes to encode? What's your cpu and filterchain, or in the very least x264 preset.
19/08/2025 15:53 — Anonymous: "Gade"
If it's encoding that fast he's likely using GPU to encode or a very very fast CPU preset. Both are awful for video quality.

You're not going to get any answers from them, save this questions for someone who actually encodes their video.

Video is the same as the source => 0mn.
Audio filtering + Subtitle making => 30min to 1h.

So yes, doesn't take me long.

Reddit sucks... I got shadow banned instantly for no reason when I made my first ever account.

I believe the admin/mods there simply didn't like you, maybe they think you're pretending to be multiple people.
