you mean 480p, and I agree, Erai is obviously the main contender as the new goto fansubbers, so doing the 480p, 720p, 1080p set is the smart move

I assume it's a fairly automated process, so wouldn't it be a simple case of adding the 480p to the 720p & 1080p they already produce? If a lot of people prefer it, and it only takes an extra few minutes per release to do, then it'd be worth it surely.

Either way it looks like Erai is my new goto

yes it wouldn't be fun if they were going about it manually. speaking 0f 480, the 1080 minis look miles better than official 480s.

yes and quite a few mini encoders release at filesizes comparable to official 480

Erai's delays and blocks of releases tell us two things:

1. Their processes aren't all that automated.
2. They are tired of doing it.

Not every endevour needs to be solely based on purely self-gratifying fulfillment. There are other elements involved. Lots of activities can't really be described as "Fun" but they sure as hell make you feel good (off the top of my head; Through Hiking, Mountain climbing, Trail running, etc) and besides, fansubbing, and releasing in general is actually quite a cool thing to do, there is a lot of lowkey cameraderie involved, and its satisfying to know that people are enjoyiing and appreciate your work.

And ripping isn't fansubbing.

It will take a rare combination of:

-someone with the tech skills to automate the processes.
-someone who enjoys losing time and money every month.
-someone who doesn't mind becoming a prime target for identification, enforcement and lawsuits.

Way back when, Horrible said he did it for revenge, not for any of your reasons. Revenge is a reliable motive.

Don't worry fren, there are tons of subbers, always has been, always will be. New groups form all the time, old groups dissolve, it's only so noticable today because Horriblesubs was such a big group.

Without HS around it's such a pain to find SD releases. I often end up getting the video from a streaming site and the subs from here...
