VLC's codec display is recognized as opus, but there is no sound when both files are played in VLCplayer.

I'd recommend adding K-Lite to your system for when VLC has problems, if you don't have an alternative player yet. Look K-Lite up in Wikipedia.

I'm not sure I would call VLC a live project at this time for various reasons.

Keeping everything to a single uniform standard worked without any problems for years. Its been one problem after another for fans trying to watch files, ever since funimation drop h10, hevc, opus into the community in their attempt to reduce offline sharing. But there only the cause, the effects of mixing multiple codecs lies with everyone using them even though they are completely unnecessary. Most know about AVC's option to change the frame rates, increasing them is all it takes. Sheep will be sheep and monkey see monkey do as they say.

Fans continue releasing non standard files, while credible groups stick to AVC. Its bit of a hassle to reencode files but if thats all it takes to be able to continue watching Anime on almost every media player in the world instead of being forced to use a PC and software type media players. The codecs aren't really to blame. But supporting funimation/crunchyroll is something this fan will never do. Ever since the company was sold to Universal Pictures it's only shown contempt for Anime. Every change made it has been their doing. Today Anime is but a fraction of the quality it once was. All but a couple show use to be created with perfection. And now only a couple are made that way and the rest look more like cartoons created in Anime studios. Wait thats what they are since funi/crunch produced almost 100% of every new show created now.

VLC was raved about for years as the go to player. . Never used VLC more than to test a file or two years ago. But after seeing multiple posts saying they can't get hevc or opus files working. it appears VLC's creators have no intentions of it playing non standard codecs

- BTW Funi succeeded by using fans to do the work for them at zero the cost.

But the biggest stinker was claiming VLC was ever raved about... It's always been known to be shit. But it plays HEVC and OPUS just fine, just another lie you made.
