At least spam the 720p version of Thora's torrent because the 1080p is just too fucking huge.

lol 12GB is not huge, it's well within the norm.
06/06/2017 01:32 — Anonymous
Come on, not everyone have the luxury of powerful internet to download this sort of shit. Its not in the norm for them.
06/06/2017 02:08 — Anonymous
They don't have to download it. Find something else to complain about.
06/06/2017 04:40 — Anonymous
People have the right to complaint about shit, who are you to tell them otherwise? Anime Tosho belonged to your daddy, uh? I swear the motherfuckers around this place..

a live action movie i can understand. but 12gb for a anime? what a bloody waste of bandwidth and storage. i guess we must also cater for the stupids.

lol yeah which is why mini-encodes exist. For those concerned about filesize but not quality.
While quality-seekers will of course be perfectly happy with this 12GB because it doesn't have quality loss due to lack of bitrate from over-compressing.

And I really don't understand your train of thought that anime somehow requires less bitrate than live-action, because that is often not the case at all. Especially with the older full of grain anime like Cowboy Bebop. Or heck just look at Kara no Kyokai where the 5th anime movie was ~25GB encoded by all the groups who did it decently.

Why do people need to download mini encodes when the spammer of THORA's work could at least put up the 720p version instead? Mind you, that release is not as bloat as to reached 12GB like this one and are completely comprehensible. It doesn't actually meant that those people desired quantity over quality, its more to the fact that they might lived in a country when their internet isn't decent and all that shit.

Oh yeah, and ANE released 8gb for the fifth movie in 720p. They're decent group, albeit dead in my opinion and doesn't forced people to consumed at least 25gb worth of space just for a fucking movie that wouldn't last more than 3 hours.
06/06/2017 02:06 — Anonymous
No one is forcing you to download this, quit your bitching and find one that suits YOUR taste.......
06/06/2017 04:37 — Anonymous
And I was saying that I wanted the 720p version, which isn't here. How about you keep your tongue away where you don't belong?

Heh, what I archived was REVO's superior encode (imo), which was even bigger at 13.4 GB file size. Size isn't an issue for me because it's 2017 and hard drives are cheap and affordable (currently up to 42TB worth of archives). I care more about the quality and I do comparisons for everything I decide to archive to ensure I'm archiving what I feel maintains the best quality.

Only reason to cry about file size like you are is if you're poor or live somewhere with really low bandwidth caps.

And your comment is kind of funny, considering ANE's 1080p was 20.8 GB. Which again isn't bloated.

Big file size ≠ bloat. Bloat = excessive bitrate, but in these cases the bitrate and therefore size is perfectly warranted (which is why every decent group who encoded it ended up with similar size encodes) and would require overly compressing and therefore degrading the quality more so to get it within your desired means. Hence my comment about mini-encodes. Because you clearly care more about having overcompressed files to meet some silly size requirement, over any sort of quality standard.

As for the uploader, perhaps size wasn't an issue for him and he opted not to archive the 720p and thus as a result doesn't have it to share with people who concern themselves with size over quality... \o/ I doubt that many people opt to archive both resolutions.
06/06/2017 03:16 — Anonymous
I thought their 720p encode suffered some issues so they publicly pushed 1080p release.

IDK if it did or not, but it doesn't seem like even THORA archived a 720p on their xdcc bots as only the 1080p is listed (https://nibl.co.uk/bots.php?search=cowboy+thora) ... So I'd assume they removed it due to some reason so an issue with it seems like a plausible reason.
06/06/2017 04:39 — Anonymous
I was talking about ANE's 720p version, which is relevant to my request for asking the 720p version of Thora's thing. But, I'm not going to drag this shit out anyway so I'm just going to look for the version elsewhere. This shit is simple anyway but of course, someone need to rile em' in to some high profile bullshit.

ITT elitist faggots that fap to screenshot comparisons and consider 42TB of data storage the norm for any pc users.
Get a grip yo, 12 GB is large for an animated movie. Not everyone is an anime archivist. Some just want to watch the damn thing asap and not probe it for grains and shit.
Be thankful you were born in the right country/social strata to act all high and mighty about your viewership of chinese cartoons. Most people don't have that luxury.

F*ck off troll. 1TB hdd is only Rs. 2-3K. Stop feeding off of welfare and spending money on latest sheephone. Go back to Crunchyroll.
20/09/2017 12:52 — Anonymous
What kind of banana republic currency is Rs? I have 8 TB of data myself wank stain. Doesn't mean it's common to have TB-s in the tens or hundreds nor should it be.
Even more so using it all up on animated video that compresses well even in lower bitrates just so you can feel superior when jerking off to screen caps is decoupled from reality.

soon it won't matter.  when people can only download in KB/sec instead of MB/sec or have to pay for better, things will change.

enjoy what you can, while you can, if you want.

lol what?
06/06/2017 05:27 — Anonymous
Take for example Mega's new download limits, which for anon users at the moment appear to be now about 5GB every 4 or 8 hours.  This movie, with limit timeouts, would take 12 - 24 hours to download.  But a 5GB version would take 20 minutes.  People are going to rediscover how much magic they can get in 5GB, and think about how much waiting and hassle anything is worth.  The other download services are also tightening up because there's no real money to be made by hosting, at least not from people like us.  And then there's Mega's incoming new restrictive upload policies.

lol as if one file host placing limits is going to effect groups who don't even use said file host.
People aren't suddenly going to jump to low quality stuff simply because a file host placed limitations on free downloading.
Especially when most of the pirated downloads are done via torrent, not ddl.
And 4K is a thing, and file sizes are increasing as encoders become less willing to produce low-quality.
Mini-encoders exist to fill that hole.
06/06/2017 06:01 — Anonymous
I'm glad you're laughing out loud about it.  The downtrend for all hosters is clear, and torrents are for people who don't mind getting their own personalized copyright violation warnings, aka idiots, unless you live where it doesn't matter.

The choice isn't going to be between Kametsu or mini, but a moderate midpoint.
06/06/2017 06:26 — Anonymous
P.S. Old Nyaa quit saying that just touching a torrent stream can now put you in prison where he lives.

If that's the case for you too, I  want you to know Koby that I deeply appreciate people like you who are willing to go to prison to entertain me.  I hope they show some good movies there.

Nyaa was just scared and a lot of it was to do with being the biggest fish in the pond. You don't want to be the biggest fish in the pond when it comes to sharing pirated materials. And if people are really that afraid they can use more obscure torrent options such as private trackers. However most people should ideally be using a seedbox for any torrenting. As for me, my seedbox isn't even in the same country as me... and the way I see it, they have bigger fish to go after. Like the ones making money on pirating, not us small fry just sharing stuff we enjoy for free. That's why sites like KAT was taken down. And why they're now targetting KissAnime.

As for "Kametsu", "mini", or "moderate midpoint". Eh, I consider Kametsu one of the moderate midpoints actually. We try to compress as much as we can without getting to the point of sacrificing quality for compression gains. Of course we do include FLAC though, so someone who is concerned about file size can always convert the FLAC to lower bitrate AAC or download a 720p.

Anyways, it's 2017 and 4K is a thing and has recently been cracked. I see ALOT of 4K live-action television shows and movies, and it's only going to get more main stream. You're suggesting that MEGA implementing limitations is somehow gonna effect groups who do not utilize MEGA, but it's not. If anything file sizes will continue to grow. I mean I'm seeing 80GB movie encodes and 20GB episode encodes due to 4K resolution now, and file hosts are obviously not affecting them being released.

Why would something not being used affect it? That's like claiming that because the price of plastic increases, somehow Pizza Hut is gonna charge more for their pizza. It's completely unrelated. If a group doesn't use MEGA, then anything MEGA does is obviously not going to affect them. Quality groups aren't suddenly going to encode in crap quality to meet some size requirement just because one file host they don't utilize sets some limitation.

Possibilities are endless ...
At the end of the day, image quality is important but size matters too. That's why new technologies/algorithms like more powerful CPUs and HEVC are being invented/created; just to compress it more while retaining quality at an acceptable range.
