7zip cannot open the 2 part mediafire file

any help?

Get 7-zip to extract from the .001 file - it will automatically look for the .002 file if it's in the same folder as the .001 file.

also can Join file first with HJsplit
then extract it

It would seem like the part 02 is a different file size than the part 02 in the FlameUpload link.

The parts between hosts aren't always interchangeable.
In this case, FlameUpload and MediaFire has different split sizes, and MediaFire is run through an archive whereas FlameUpload isn't.

What do you mean by mediafire is run thru an archive?
Does this require any specific program to open the 2 part file?

I downloaded part 1 & 2 mediafire files and 7zip was unable to open them.
7zip worked fine on the part 1 & 2 flameupload files.

WTF???

the file on mediafire is in archive form. (.rar .zip .7z)
probably this is to prevent mediafire deleting the files due to copyright etc.

you could probably try joining the .001 & .002 part using HJsplit first.
after that you could extract it using 7zip
it works for me

Thanks. I tried HJsplit and it did not work for me.
I really like mediafire for multiple file downloading for the larger files. I hope they find a better way of dealing with the deletion issue so I can keep using it to download.

7-zip (latest version?) should open the .001 file fine. It will NOT open the .002 file, so don't try to open it.
WinRAR doesn't seem to work with split 7z files (the version I have at least), so you may need to join them into a single file before trying to open it.

Can you please explain what HJSplit has given you after you've used it? It should be outputting a .7z file which should be openable.

Yeah, I just saw that :D

Anon, if extracting from part one doesn't work, try combining the files with 7-zip.

Anon, get the latest version of 7zip, the older didn't work
01/06/2012 04:27 — Anonymous
Thanks for the heads up.
Even though I tried it, I realized HJsplit is not needed because 7zip has that function built in.

Will try with the updated 7zip
