Isn't there a way to directly block the rapidgator links? bad enough I keep seeing those stupid ass links when for searching for random files but seeing them show up here, too is an eyesore since I'm always checking for random anime to download here. >_<

I agree that it's a pain, especially since I'm cleaning up after it, but I don't think blocking it outright is a particularly wise thing to do.

The biggest reason you'll want to block rapidgator links is because that host is known for hosting fake files and even having a virus or trojan in them. the fact you need a premium account to download from that host doesn't help its case either.

I don't quite follow your point as I don't use Rapidgator, hence, it hosting fake files isn't really my concern.
However, fake files would be more of a case of what uploaders upload, rather than an issue of the host itself.

Do you mean a dedicated low-budget computer that can stay connected to the Internet and slowly acquire the torrents this guy wants?

The reason I ask is I always thought of seedboxes as slow distributors of torrents, but using them them to collect makes sense too.

I was referring to hosted seedboxes - that is, not a dedicated computer connected to your own internet connection.
Doing this bypasses any issues with using your own connection to grab torrents, and, as they are connected to server grade networks, can often download/upload much faster than a typical residential connection.

As mercer seems to be requesting a fair amount of torrents to be mirrored, it would seem like such a thing would be worthwhile for him to have, thus I'm interested in whether he's considered the option or not.

Thanks for the explanation.  And that's very interesting.  Maybe it could even get around university torrent-blocking and such.  I am of they who know not, and know that they know not: Which is one step above those that know not and know not that they know not.

But are you sure that you know that they know not that they known not?
Because what you know not may not be part of what you know, and the statement is only valid if their not knowing that they know not is not a part of what you know not.
Of course, I must assume that I know that what I know not must be considered to be outside the scope of this conversation as you cannot reason about what you know or know not, if you know not.
