Any player should be able to play the AV1 video codec by now. See if there's an update for your player or add another player to your system. If it's a problem of sluggish play due to older hardware, it would probably be best to avoid AV1.

I opened it in as many apps. wmp, mpv, Nero, updated vlc, even chromecast. VLC states crashed with bug.

I'm a bit unclear about what you mean, but if you're saying you're having problems, I wouldn't expect any revision of this since there haven't been any reports of problems on Nyaa.

There's a bunch of other versions to choose from.

No. all of them. It's just the VLC that 'shows' an explanation why it won't open because it 'crashes' everytime. The rest, it just shuts down after opening/playing the file.

I only watched a few minutes but it played fine with Potplayer and K-Lite for me and someone else said mpv worked too.

If your AV1 problem is just with this show, I'd give up on this version. If this is a problem you're having with other AV1 shows also, I don't know what to suggest except avoid AV1

If you want to try another player, I'd give K-Lite a try. Look it up in Wikipedia.

just to comment on your apps: Windows Media Player is mostly very old, like 2009; Nero list their last stable version was in 2017; mpv is a live project and someone else reported it worked for them; VLC is probably the weakest of the (possibly) live projects, but they list AV1 as "experimental". I'm not sure about Chromecast without a physical device...

Hence I'd recommend trying K-Lite, as a live (meaning updating) project that easy to install and use.

p.s. This list could suggest your hardware is going to be too old to be able to keep up with the processing requirements needed for AV1.

I'm trying to find the problem with my copy. I feel that the Zippyshare download I have is missing 1MB to make it playable (432 MB). All the nfo says it's 433 MB. I don't have torrent since it's blocked here.

By clicking on the file name on the AT screen you can see the crc, sometimes called the "hash" of the file AT received by torrent. You can then find the crc of the file you received from zippyshare. Among other ways, I believe it's included the 7-zip software (get address in our FAQ). If the crc isn't identical then the files are different.

CRC32 is probably the most common hash.

CRC is not the file size, it is an identifying computed value for a file

by the way, where I come from the abbreviation you used, MiB, means Megabit. It's a unit for data transmission and numerically different from MB which is megabyte, a unit for storage.

the only solution, if there were a problem, would probably be to download it again or from a different host like kraken.

I think I downloaded my copy from Zippy.
