And what's the deal with Solidfiles? It used to be my go-to downloader, but lately whenever I use it it won't download, just try to open spam pages and malware garbage.

Try double-clicking the download button, that works for me. If the spam pages keep insisting, just close them and try again without refreshing the page. I hope this helps.

Solidfiles has started to vary how it behaves, so it's a matter of keeping up with the changes. As Anon said, right now it may take 2 or 3 clicks to get to the download.

Currently, for me it's also possible to avoid having the spam pages open by using setting in the browser and add-ons like ad-blocker. I only get a warning that firefox blocked the un-requested pages from opening.

Yeah, I have Ad-Blocker running, but these problems appeared and continued for the past month or so. I have used the Free downloader (that French thing in the drop-down MultiUp) and even the UsersCloud (even though trashing the zipped files is a hassle). What download is the fastest, allowing multiple simultaneous downloads, and most trouble-free?

For me, fastest, multi-simultaneous, and low-trouble would still be solidfiles.  But it would be interesting to see what other people have to say.

As for your current problems, aside from Ad-Blocker Plus, do you have block pop-ups selected in your browser?  I think it's Firefox that's blocking in this case, not ad-blocker.  Your browser may also have other security items to select, such as don't allow new un-requested windows to spawn, etc.  And you can check if your ad-blocker has been updating with the right options settings.  And look into adding one of the supplemental databases they offer.

As it is, I right-click on the solidfiles 'direct download link' until the right-click context menu gives me an option to use my download program (FDM, Free Download Manager).  No windows open, and it takes 2 - 3 clicks to get the download selection option.

Also, you might want to look into jdownloader, if that's not what you are using.

The drawback to jdownloader is being willing to run Java on your machine. It can be security nightmare, or it may not matter to your uses or you may be running it anyways.

If you're willing to use a paid account, you should look into getting a Usenet access account. Google or wiki for info. It's a separate Internet-like network with large anime holdings and long shelf life. So far.
