Our experience here is that torrent users and ddl users are different people.  The ones who use ddl don't use torrents and the ones who use torrents don't use ddl.  The torrent users, for example, ask for seeds rather than use working ddl in front of their noses.  And the ddl users probably have various issues with torrents.

I use both, but mainly torrent.
Sometimes DDL is the only way to go and XDCC is handy, especially for the older stuff that's dead on torrents and DDL here.

I can place exemption for you if you wish, though I'm interested in why you think DDLs somehow kill any of your torrents (I've seen no evidence of such).

well i mean the more and more people use DDLs the less seeds and the less seeds i have on my torrent the more i have to seed which i can’t always do therefore the seed/leech ratio becomes bad thus practically killing my torrent so yes please put an exemption for me on this site

On Nyaa you have 8 seeders and 8 leechers, so I can see why your point is valid about messing up the ratio - 1 to 1 ratio totally sucks. Also, there are 99 completed torrent downloads, so one more point in your favor regarding your claim about the torrent being killed. You are so right about DDL messing you up. You need to learn about public torrents.
They have a very short lifespan unless you are a well known and respected encoder, you are not one of those.
Most people who use public torrents quit seeding as soon as the download ends.
Also people who use ddl are not the ones that use torrents, they use ddl because their ISP has blocked the torrent ports.

The only so called rant is about an uploader that doesn't want to share with those that can't use torrents.

If the uploader actually cared he would get a seedbox so his torrent won't die and not rant about ddl "killing it".
Stopping ddl won't keep his torrent "alive' any longer since those that use ddl don't use torrents.

I actually think it's the other way around, particularly for lesser known uploaders.
The minimum seed ratio set here is 1.25, which means that AT will seed back more than it leeches, helping the torrent swarm. And I find it particularly so if the uploader doesn't have a great connection (or isn't always on), since seeding here is done off a server, so typically reaches higher ratios in those cases.

If we assume everyone who uses DDL could also use torrents, usage of DDL means less leeching. Whether or not these leechers become seeds is another matter altogether (particularly in a world of ISPs increasingly adopting CGNAT). DDL does actually permit someone to be a seed without ever leeching off the swarm as well.

Also take note that we upload to Usenet as well, which means that files get preserved for years on the internet, even if it requires some effort to obtain it, unlike many older torrents.

If you're interested in keeping torrents seeded, my recommendation would be to ask people who are interested to help seed for you - there are many out there with spare bandwidth/capacity to do this.

Nevertheless, as mentioned earlier, I'm happy to add an exemption, regardless of your views.
