According to Netflix こくはく/ 告白 means date (text on the video). No it doesn't. Kokuhaku is a confession. In this case confession of feelings. It's not just "asking out" or "confessing" - it's a formal declaration of love that marks the start of a relationship in Japan. It changes entire dynamic between two people.
AI got it right of course.

Of course since Netflix idiots aren't using honorifics, they need to make many things up. Chinatsu is calling Taiki with -kun honorific. They just made her call him "Tai" when she dropped the -kun. A truly brilliant idea. Of course AI didn't have this problem because all honorifics are properly used.

Next, they are going along with earlier mistranslation and instead of talking about confession, they are talking about asking out. This is a huge fucking difference from Taiki's perspective and his goals. And this is another key point in characterization. AI got it right again.

Unfortunately, again, what's missing here is what makes Hina Hina. She is playful, bold and makes it feel like she has known him for many years. That's why her playful teasing (recurring) of self-reference as Hina-sama seems spot on and natural. In Netflix's translation, this line is no different from what any other character would say.

There's a lot of other bigger or smaller inaccuracies in Netflix subs like these. For example Chinatsu is calling Hina by her family name and with honorific -san, which means that she aren't treating her as her friend or even someone she know, so she's talking about her and to her with respect. Which is yet again lost in Netflix subs, so yet another example of changing the character personality. But I'm to lazy to write more. Be grateful that I spent a few minutes replying to clown like you.

Is there a reason the release notes just say "one X/Twitter user" rather than actually citing thier source who could probably provide more details? I do get that AI bros using stuff without consent and plagarism go hand-in-hand.

It would interesting to know what type of translation model is used (as some people use AI to refer to copy pasting lines into deepl) and how many iterations, prompts and proofreading it took (this is the bit people really dislike of being capable of mass produced slop). I know people love to treat the prompts as the secret sauce (that's the model; which is a black box to many end users) but it would be like doing the same for video encoding, it doesn't help the community.
