I read the comment above, and I ask again: what happened to mkv?

I gave it a try.  The video had a "flatness" that I didn't like, but this is a very stylized show and as I recall it was always a little "flat".  I'll compare it to other versions later.

Here's the facts:
1. Wiki: "WebM is an audio-video format designed to provide royalty-free, open video compression for use with HTML5 video. The project's development is sponsored by Google Inc.  A WebM file consists of VP8 video and Vorbis audio streams, in a container based on a profile of Matroska."

(It's only reason to exist is not it's technical greatness but that it's royality-free.  That may be why it hasn't made much of an impact since it came out 2 years ago.)

2. It is supposed to be supported by VLC and MPC-HC at least.  It can also be played by your browser.
3.  The separate "*.ass" file contains the subtitles, which need to be in the same folder as the *.webm" file.  Inconvenient.
4. The real future is probably Apple's "Retina" level of resolution (2160p?) however/whenever we get there.

btw,
1. If you download this in parts, you probably already know the file names have to be identical except for the .001 and .002 endings in order for 7zip to join them.
2. The .ass and .webm files also have to be identical except for file name endings in order to work, with some exceptions.

Could I convert this into mkv, something that I'm more familiar with? No offense.

From my understanding, WebM is MKV, so you could just rename it and it's technically an MKV.
Its video/audio stream won't change though. If you just want to combine in the subs, use this.
