Series (!)Ao no Hako - Episode 16 (of 25): Unfair Woman
CommentSubtitles translated using AI by one X/Twitter user as an experiment to confirm that AI is a real option for translation and can maintain context well. They need a little polish here and there, but still the viewing experience is much better than Netflix ones. These are not my subtitles, I just muxed with raw episode.

Who is one X/Twitter user mentioned in the description?
16/01/2025 20:58 — Anonymous
its suspicious theyre dont say who this twitter user is
17/01/2025 03:30 — Anonymous
well knowing incels that like to rage on these subs it makes sense. Imagine the army of losers that would rage post on that user.
17/01/2025 04:58 — Anonymous
Nah, if the person making these subs were truly confident in them, they'd put their username behind it. But they stay anonymous because they know these suck and aren't accurate and don't want the hate.
17/01/2025 07:03 — Anonymous
These subs are as good if not better than the official subs. As mentioned above, the user is staying anonymous to avoid the harrassment and death threats from classist elitist narcissistic losers who spend all their time online bullying anyone who uses AI.
17/01/2025 09:37 — Anonymous
lmao so funny to claim being a victim over this? why not take credit, whats wrong with that? doesn't seem like the AI advocates are confident in themselves. suddenly now concerned with harassment and hate speech

typical AI grifters
17/01/2025 09:54 — admin
why not take credit, whats wrong with that?
Maybe they aren't looking for any?

It's worth pointing out that you're posting anonymously as well, so I'm not sure you have much ground to complain about someone else wishing to be anonymous.
17/01/2025 11:30 — Anonymous
subs are "translated" anonymously, no group, no information about who's doing it, nothing to look up who they are, etc. Almost all subs group are named, and have information regarding who they are, or have publicly avaliable information online, such as their discord server or whatever. Erai has their own website. Even fansubbers have searchable names, so at least I know who's torrents I'm seeding. But this - "Subtitles translated using AI by one X/Twitter user" not even a paper trail. All this screaming and shouting abt the utility of AI subs, yet nobody wants to take credit for it? Very suspicious. It's just about the principle, if people want to seed this slop, sure by all means. But I disagree.
17/01/2025 12:58 — admin
Isn't "Ai-kun" a searchable name?
And I think few people in this business are interested in leaving "paper trails"...
17/01/2025 13:29 — NotAnAnonNow
>And I think few people in this business are interested in leaving "paper trails"

The ones that do are the ones looking for donations etc. The ones that don't are in it just for the love of anime. When I was releasing my encodes I didn't accept donations and all my costs were out of my pocket.
17/01/2025 15:15 — Anonymous
All the more reason to release their identity. If AI subs are so good, I'm sure this person would be willing to accept donations since they have nothing to hide nor anything to prove? And if they're doing it for the love of the game - well, again, why the obfuscation? Most subgroups had searchable names and handles, you could get in contact with them. ToonsHub has their own discord, I know who I'm torrenting from. Which is my whole point. Not sure how this is going over your head.
17/01/2025 15:26 — Anonymous
"I know who I'm torrenting from. Which is my whole point."

Don't torrent from them then, I'm sure they aren't losing sleep over it.
18/01/2025 06:57 — admin
Ah, good point, thanks.
17/01/2025 15:09 — Anonymous
Lol so helpful admin, here are my top search results:

https://macross.fandom.com/wiki/Ai-kun
https://myfigurecollection.net/entry/7520
https://www.anime-planet.com/characters/ai-kun

Very easy to smug about this - who's the person making these subs? Do they have a name? If AI is so good, and so useful, why hide your identity? This isn't like Erairaws or Kawasubs where I can instantly find who's responsible for making this torrent. Point is, I want to know which torrents are reputable and which aren't. I'm not sure how seeding a random AI slop torrent will give me that, I only seed from reputable groups or people anyways so I don't get your point.
17/01/2025 15:16 — Anonymous
"If AI is so good, and so useful, why hide your identity?"

If it's so bad why hide your identity, anon?
17/01/2025 17:43 — Anonymous
Everyone is anon here - I'm not the one uploading this shit though. The site is specifically designed so that everyone here has an anon account BY DEFAULT. are you stupid?

there's a real difference between uploading a torrent online with little to no background on who you are vs posting on an online forum such as this.
17/01/2025 20:17 — Anonymous
you're the one trying to be smug here and are coming out as mentally impaired lol
18/01/2025 06:57 * — admin
Here's my search: https://animetosho.org/search?q="Ai-kun"

why hide your identity?
Why not?

Point is, I want to know which torrents are reputable and which aren't
What one considers reputable is subjective though.

I only seed from reputable groups or people anyways so I don't get your point.
You're free to seed whatever you want. The point is that you're given the freedom to decide, whilst also giving others with different opinions the same freedom to decide.

Similarly, the submitter has the freedom to decide what they wish to disclose.

You realize that someone who is making these subs probably doesn't even know that these subs are being uploaded as torrents with video? It's clearly stated in torrent description. You can't even read and you're arguing that AI subs are bad? LOL.
17/01/2025 15:11 — Anonymous
What part about seeding reputable torrents don't you understand? I'm not putting series into my seedbox. Sorry but it's incredibly shady how the pro-AI crowd doesn't want to give us some actual information about whoever the hell is behind Ai-Kun, what I thought you guys were all about showing that these Western localizers are dumb and stupid and you guys are the REAL fans of animation. Why the cold reception, what are you hiding? I don't seed shit that's shady, not unless I KNOW who's torrent I'm seeding. Keep eating your slop from a trough. I'm a little bit more cautious when I'm online.
17/01/2025 15:20 — Anonymous
"I'm not putting series into my seedbox."

Then don't! We don't care if you do or not. It sounds like you are trying to dox someone.
BTW, I don't care about this genre so I don't download it anyway.
17/01/2025 15:24 — Anonymous
Reputable torrents? Like these green on nyaa? LMAO. I don't fucking care. If subs are good, no matter if it's fansub, official subs (yes, official subs can be good too, many CR translations are great) or AI, I'm good with it.
I don't need someone to tell me 'this is reputable'.
And I think it's wise that uploader of this torrent didn't say who made this subs (it's clearly stated it is not him). Imagine all these brain dead AI haters going to someone's profile who made them and harassing this person.
17/01/2025 03:57 — Anonymous
I wonder would these Anti-AI posters refuse to use the upcoming AI Generated Subtitles in VLC?
Instead of waiting for subtitles we can just watch the RAW and let VLC generate subtitles in real time.
17/01/2025 04:42 — Anonymous
Instead of waiting for AI subs, why don't people actually start learning japanese. I see people have watched anime for 10+ years and decided nah I'll just learn japanese just by watching anime.
17/01/2025 06:53 — Anonymous
I'm sure a lot of anime fans would love to learn japanese. The unfortunate reality is that most people simple don't have time, especially if they're working adults with responsibilities.
17/01/2025 09:41 — Anonymous
and yet most of you degenerates have all the time and energy in the world to harass fan subbers and other people who translate your anime and scream about the woke mob day in and day out? sure man. maybe when you get off twitter you'll be able to learn Japanese. keep bitching about localization tho Im sure that's an adequate substitute
17/01/2025 16:20 — Anonymous

exactly this. most of these retards at fat Americans or dumb Europeans who don't wanna take a basic language course in Japanese, yet they act like they know better
17/01/2025 15:16 — Anonymous
These subs by VLC won't be good. Do you know why? It will be using AI transcription (which is still making TONS of mistakes if it comes to Japanese) + MTL translation done line by line.
AI translations can be good or even great, but AI needs a context to work with. Like, you need to provide subtitles for whole episode and even better - with separate file about what happened in previous episodes.
It's like with humans. If you were tasked to translate something without context line by line, your translation would be bad in best case scenario.

Rather than arguing about this, admin should take action against fansubs put watermarks on their videos. (If any) Since 2021, Filipino fansub has put a watermark on every corner of the video.
17/01/2025 14:14 — Anonymous
"admin should take action against fansubs put watermarks on their videos"

This is a mirror site, admin needs to do nothing. If you don't like the watermarks don't download from that group.
Just like these clowns that don't like AI subs, don't download them then.
17/01/2025 15:11 — Anonymous
You are also a clown here serving them. What admin here doesn't accept suggestions?
17/01/2025 15:13 — Anonymous
This is my first time commenting here, and giving suggestions. Sorry, I didn't create an account
17/01/2025 15:23 — Anonymous
"What admin here doesn't accept suggestions?'

You must be new here, the admin has answered these topics in the past.
17/01/2025 15:48 — Anonymous
So let the admin answer not you, clown.
17/01/2025 17:35 — NotAnAnonNow
So, you want the admin to ban videos with watermarks just because you personally don't like them?
OK, others will want AI subs banned, others would want minis banned, Eng dubs, certain groups and others just because someone personally doesn't like it!
This would severely limit the amount of files here. As one anon posted: "don't download them then"
17/01/2025 19:34 — Anonymous
Watermarking videos? people still do that? Well, it's clearly a shitty practice. It's like that fansub group who told people to not steal their subs because they "own" it. But I don't think it should be banned. On the other hand, posting spoilers should be banned forever.
17/01/2025 19:58 — Anonymous
why not both?
17/01/2025 20:11 — Anonymous
Nyaa already banned users who uploads watermarked releases and also users who intentionally posts spoilers. But let me remind you that this site is not nyaa. So different rules may apply. However, I just find the practice of "branding things you just pirated" extremely shameful but it's not a bannable offense unlike posting spoilers out of the blue.
17/01/2025 20:30 — Anonymous
The Nyaa rule is "Remakes which add watermarks or such are not allowed."
