One evening, Sakura ends up at Kenji's and Noe's home, requiring help at the Spring Water Race competition, where the local shrine features famous spring water, that is only available once a year.

The next day at the shrine: as it turns out Takao Haha (from the shopping mall fire incident) is Sakura's greatest rival in the competition. But then Chitose appears as well. She wants the good quality water for the vegetables in her garden. Whereas Roka wants delicious barley tea water. And Sakura just wants to use it as drinking water.

And so the unfortunate Kenji gets dragged into a fierce battle for, of all things, spring water...
