Additional Info
This project is a chronological, scene-by-scene edit of the Monogatari Series anime adaptation of the arcs that took place between August 20 and August 25. Specifically, it uses material from :

* Tsubasa Tiger (Nekomonogatari Shiro / Monogatari Series Second Season episodes 1-5)
* Mayoi Jiangshi (Kabukimonogatari / Monogatari Series Second Season episodes 7-10)
* Shinobu Time (Onimonogatari / Monogatari Series Second Season episodes 17-20)
* Shinobu Mail (Owarimonogatari II / Owarimonogatari episodes 8-13)

Additionally, it also includes two short stories that are directly related to these arcs. The first, Mayoi Room, shows how Hachikuji forgot her backpack at Araragi's house, leading to the events of Mayoi Jiangshi. The second, Yotsugi Stress, expands on what happened after Black Hanekawa discovered that the cram school has burnt to the ground, during Tsubasa Tiger. (For more information about the short stories, including links to every known English translation, see here https://www.reddit.com/r/araragi/comments/5eilqt/monogatari_short_stories_translation_project/)

The folder contains the following files :

* August 20 (Mayoi Room, Mayoi Jiangshi).mp4
* August 21 (Tsubasa Tiger, Mayoi Jiangshi, Shinobu Time).mp4
* August 22 (Tsubasa Tiger, Shinobu Time).mp4
* August 23 (Tsubasa Tiger, Shinobu Time, Shinobu Mail).mp4
* August 24 (Tsubasa Tiger, Shinobu Mail, Yotsugi Stress).mp4
* August 25 (Tsubasa Tiger).mp4
* Timeline.png
* Mayoi Room.txt
* Yotsugi Stress.txt
* README.txt

This chronological cut is basically the anime version of the detailed timeline that I made a while back and that's also included in the folder. Its purpose is to help people make sense of the confusion of all these inter-related stories and see how they fit together. However, be aware that because of the inherent limitations of the timeline, this project is not entirely flawless. It can be useful for a chronological rewatch, but

THIS CHRONOLOGICAL EDIT DOESN'T CONTAIN EVERYTHING FROM THE EPISODES.

I wanted it to be purely chronological, which means I removed certain things in order to do so. In addition to the extra stuff such as the openings, endings and previews, I omitted a couple of moments of extended narration that doesn't happen at the same time than the events. I also, of course, removed the Ougi introductions and conclusions that show these arcs are actually retold to her by Araragi.

But more importantly : I removed everything that happened in the alternate timeline in Mayoi Jiangshi. I couldn't make a scene-by-scene chronological edit that makes sense if I had to include stuff that happened at a totally different time : I wanted it to be as if someone was recording the events of August 21 from an external point of view. Therefore, just like in the graphical timeline I included, all you will see from this arc is everything leading up to the time warp in episode 1, and everything that happens after they warp back to the original timeline in episode 4. So, you are warned, this project can't completely replace a normal rewatch. It's more of a complementary option.

Besides, even if Nisio Isin (the author) has been extremely consistent in his chronology, he didn't *always* precise the exact time at which things happen, which is why I cannot guarantee with absolute certainty that everything is in the right order. It happens that stuff take place at (what we can only guess to be) roughly the same time, and we can't know for sure what came first. In these cases, I just tried to do something that looks logical and flows well enough. Sometimes it's not known if something happened very late on a certain day or very early on the following day, so it can be a bit misleading since I made one video per day, but hopefully you don't mind me choosing a side. By the way, the timeline was constructed using the light novels. The anime adaptation, while usually very faithful, occasionally shows a slightly wrong time for an event. This is really minor, though, and you probably won't notice unless you're really looking for it.

About the technical stuff and methodology : I chose the CoalGirls subs, in the 1920x1080 Blu-Ray versions. The original files were .mkv files with softsubs, but with the editing I had to do, I didn't want to have to bother with something complicated, so I used ffmpeg to re-encode them as .mp4 files with hardsubs. I then used Sony Vegas Pro 14 for the editing part, and rendered the videos with a lower bitrate to try to reduce the filesize. Keeping it at the best visual quality possible would make the files several GB, making it both hard for me to upload and share, and hard for people to download if they don't have a great Internet connection. It's not great, but it looked good enough to me, so I did it this way. If you don't like the quality of the videos, I probably won't / can't do anything about it.

Anyway, I think that's all I have to say ! I hope you find it helpful and enjoy it. Thanks to everyone from the /r/araragi subreddit and Discord for their support (Hitagi worst girl :Kermit:)

Have fun !
