As for now (Dawn of 2015), no hardware decoder, hardware player for h265 (HEVC) yet...

How to Play ASS (Advanced Substation Alpha Subtitles)
=====================================================

ASS subtitles use advanced text effects, styles and load attached fonts inside MKV containers.
Some players won't support all these features...
They might not display Subtitles Properly. Would be displayed without special effects, like SRTs.

VLC Player also supports, but sometimes the quality can be inferior and it may initially take some time to create font cache...
